After many years as a christian I was once attending a christian couples dinner when the subject of polygyny came up.While it was the consensus---esp among the women--that monogamy was the only acceptable christian marriage, even the pastor had to admit that there is no explicit law against it. It could only be inferred. Paul said "Where there is no law, no sin is to be imputed." I answered. I was then showered with cliche answers and false analogies.

So I decided to study bibles on my own. I therein discovered that neither christ nor anything in the OT forbade polygyny. That prompted me to begin to wonder about the veracity of the books themselves. And the more I studied them, their origins, the borrowing from other religions, and how the books were compiled, the less I believed.

Now I am a very happy apostate commited to freeing the world from all religion one person at a time. If you need help leaving christinsanity see the Skeptical Review Online or contact me.

If you don't want to live under God's rules that is your choice. We can all live to anything (SIN) if we want..that would be easy wouldn't it> Just like society has rules..God has even higher standards by which we should live..my opinion is that you should research the Bible w/ your heart and not intellect.

Mind you, I'm Jewish and think Christianity is one of the biggest cons ever laid on humans.

That aside, many, if not most, true biblical scholars acknowledge that the book is at best a combination of fact, fable and parable. The point of the bible is to teach values by telling stories and those lessons are, for the most part, still valid and good to this day.

Thus I think the bible is no less valuable even though it is known to not be fact.

However, Christianity and its many sects do a heck of a number twisting things when "interpreting" the book, and it surprises me how few recognize that even within the scope of "Christianity" there is no consensus on the interpretation of much of it.

I prefer Judaism as questioning the interpretation is encouraged. I don't know that there is a God, and quite frankly don't care. I know I'm a good person that seeks to do good for others and IF there's a judgement day, I believe I will be judged for my deeds, not my faith.

I"m not living my life worrying about the unknown.

I would like to see your reasons for your disbelief.
More importantly, I would like to share with you the Truth about the afterlife. I only tell you this because I care what will happen to you when you die. Have you ever told a lie, stolen anything, used God’s name in vain? These are just a few of God’s Moral Laws. When you die, God will judge you on the basis of His Moral Law. If you stand guilty before God of breaking His Laws, He will have to send you to Hell. God must punish lawbreakers. The good news is that God provided a way for you to be forgiven and go to Heaven. Jesus Christ died on a cross and rose again to pay the debt for your sins and take your punishment. What you must do is Repent, which means to say you are sorry to God and turn away from your sins. Then put your complete Trust in Jesus Christ. Only then will you be accepted into Heaven, not because you’re a good person, but because you’re a bad person who’s been forgiven. Please give this some thought. Your Eternal Destination depends on it.
