Sometimes Acne has a lot to do with her diet and eating habits. I've never had a serious problem with Acne so I couldn't tell you an major tricks/tactics that I've used. I've tried black soap and shea butter as well as washing my face with Noxema or some other over the counter cleanser/astringent. Depending on what part of the country you live in you may be able to find the black soap and shea butter in a mom and pop store in your area or at a kiosk at your local mall. That works for a lot of people and as you stated just sticking to the basics of drinking water and maintaining a healthy diet will also works.

Alcohol will dry her skin out too much. Cocoa butter might help with scarring but would be too moisturizing and is really not meant for the face and not addressing the real issue - bacteria in the pores. A good product is the Aveda acne line. But also take a look at her diet (if you haven't already). Lots of water. No soda, sugar, fried foods or any junk. Lots of fruit/veggies high in Vitamin A and B. Could try the Dr. Perricone acne diet - basically a lot of salmon, blueberries and cantelope. And make sure she's not sleeping in her makeup but washes morning and night. Good luck.

Cocoa butter is too oily for her skin, my advice to her since i was once an ance infested face teenager is to:
1. drink lots and lots of water
2. cut down on fatty and fried foods,
3. Eat lots of vegetables and fruits,
4. A raw banana peel rubbed on to the face when it is dry wash off with warm water. That also helps,
5. Lemon juice on the face or lemon juice mixed with dry milk and add as facial mask,
6. crushed garlic(though it might stink) does do alot of justice cause it has anti bacterial ingredents,
7. Clear essence even skin tone,
8. steam the face once a week with mentholathum in the hot water and a blanket over your head.
These are some of the remedies that helped me i started trying different methods when i was like 13 and 14 and by the time i was 17/18 i was acne and spot free. She will grow out of acne but she could also suppress it by trying these few methods.

I just answered a similar question. I too have tried many things and what works for one might not work for another. I have extremely sensitive skin. What works for me is this: wash with Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser (to remove makeup), then wash with Phisoderm Acne Clear Confidence Facial Wash (find at Walmart), using cotton pad use Witch Hazel as toner, then use Cleocin lotion (Clindomycin Phosphate Lotion by Rx only-can get from primary Care Dr.-gel formula didn't work for me), then Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion. Works wonders for me. It took until I was 40 to find something that works. I had bad skin since I was 11 years old. Maybe, this could help your daughter and she won't have to suffer for as long as I did. It would've changed my life completely and spared me much pain.

I think alcohol is too harsh and cocoa butter will clog pores. Try washing your face with Noxema, it helps. Also cut down on eating the nasty foods.

just keep a clean face. It could also be from stress so try to stay as stressfree as possible. It could be form eating lots of greasy foods tell her to stay away from greasy and fetty foods as much as possible. Try to keep the pores unclogged too, so when your face gets all covered in stuff just go rinse it off and pat it dry with a lint free cloth. Don't touch it too much wiht your hands either.

Cocoa butter will make her skin break out and alcohol is too strong. Go to this site for inexpensive remedies. http://www.health911.com/remedies/rem_acne.htm

I've recently tried Tea tree oil, it seems to be working well. If you buy some make sure it's 100 percent pure and from Australia.

Has she done accutane? If she has tried everything else, I'd talk to the Dr about it.
