Not only thin people exist in our world today...we need real people to show little teenage girls how to act because they are our romodels. Those girls are a little too skinny and thats a big impact on why teenagers have bulimea or if they fast. But my question is are they really that skinny...???

I can tell you that the people in magazines are 100% retouched. I know because that's what I do for a living

They don't eat a lot. Many of them smoke. They are probably super-unhealthy too. It's silly, 'cos all the people on TV and in magazines are thin, and all the people who watch TV and read magazines are fat. Clearly this shows being thin is more desirable - hence why people force themselves to be like that in the first place! And some people are just thin and can't help it.

I have done allot of magazine photos and have been on t.v. twice. The answer to your question is yes they are that skinny, and most of them are more skinny than you think because the camera will add some pounds. I understand what you are saying though. Most actors/actresses have personal fitness trainers as well. to keep them that way. But look at it this way to if there are more chubby girls on t.v. America will let herself turn even more lazy then she already is but as long as there are some type of standards for what is healthy and what isn't it will keep pushing people to be that way. In turn I think it does as much good as bad.

Because they have personnel trainers and dietary specialist working on there meals. They have the money to work out all day and pay for those kinds of things unlike in the real world where people have to work 40+ hours a week and take care of family and clean house. They have hired help for all that stuff.

The fashion industry has two reasons they promote skinny woman models.

1) The clothes hang off of the model in the desired look, it complements the design.

2) The fashion industry is driven by gays (except for a few top female and non-gay male-female designers). They desire tall thin boys so the models the pick represent that.

- This is also my explanation for why hair dressers male (gay) will 90% of the time cut womens hair off saying its sheake and modern. Jealousy and they want you to look like cute boy.

- Ladies please dont fall for this nightmare. I know it is hard work to take take care of long hair but we love it. Forget skinny models and actresses, be healthy.

Yes they are that skinny and airbrushing is added to the photos but that's to take out blemishes. Skinny women to the fashion world are beautiful and sexy and unfortunately young girls think they need to look that way not only to be beautiful, but because it's the norm. We all know they do not represent the average women but tell that to your average self-conscious teen.

Most of them, are like other people said retouched. But that doesn't mean they're not also TERRIBLY thin. I agree with you 100%, I find myself under a lot of pressure to starve myself, even with wonderful people telling me I'm beautiful. It's a horrible image to project, and I hope the industry will realize this.

The photos in magazines are airbrushed so that the people look thinner and their skin blemishes are covered up. Yes, it's a shame that our society place so much value on being thin.

I agree - I'm sick of looking at stick-thin people who appear half-dead. We are obsessed with being skeleton figures and that seems to be what we worship in our "stars". I'd rather see someone who looks healthy than skinny. Case in point: Kelly Ripa used to be really pretty, now she just looks extremely thin, tired, and much older.

they might be, but unless they have VERY high metabolism or they have an eating disorder, it's probably something like photoshop. i was watching something once and they do it all the time, so those celebraties or super models are probably not that thin. but i do agree with you. i'm a teenager and i think those things are retarted but a lot of people at my school try to look EXACTLY like them..
