I love my fiance very much and he loves me. We were having alot of rpoblems so I left the house we bought together and I went to live 1200 miles away with my parents. After one year we had worked out our demons. Worked on trust and communication and he came to get me. Now we are stronger than ever. We wont let each other go away thats for sure!!

I set a pet snake I had free when i was a kid. I loved that snake. He actually did come back, well, he never really left....he was hiding in the basement of my parents house, and my Uncle was moving the tool cabinet to the other side and there he was, just a cute little snake. He was my best friend. But he didn't like Uncle Dean....bit him right on the a$$ and he had to go to the hospital. I got in trouble because it was illegal to have a rattler as a pet. Heck, I found him, I took care of him, he was mine. Anyway, to honestly answer that, that saying will only get you loneliness. Communication is key to a successful relationship. If you set it free, and it goes, why did it go in the first place? what makes ya think it won't need "set free" again. I for one will find my true love and Cherish her until i can cherish no more. Well, as long as the receiver wants the cherishing. otherwise cherishing can turn into stalking which can turn into a whole mess. So, if a woman wanted to "set me free", I'd tell her if your setting me free, what is that doing for you? then I'd pack my bags and move to the Adirondacks.

They always seem to come back, but I like the other version of this: If you love something set it free,if it doesn't come back, hunt it down and shoot it...LOL
Well,in the end, least for me,they always came back, but,it never turned out well, right now,my life has been made miserable by my ex who came back four YEARS(no lie,) later. Don't let them come back,it's never a good thing

I don't believe in that saying. If you love someone, and the feeling is mutual, then there is no reason to "set them free." Its funny how it ends up though, if its a one sided relationship and you do "set them free" they won't come back when you want them to (which is for the best) but they come back when you don't want or need them to. If he wants to be set free.. set him free and find someone who wants to be held on to.
Good Luck!

Ok if your young don't listen to the "Set them free" phrase it just doesn't work but I think you will find that you don't force someone to stay with you they will stay with you in other words let them have the same freedoms as when they were single let there attraction to you keep them coming back. Don't try to make them stay to prove their love....you know what I mean? Just treat them the way you always do and they will get closer on their own

I've set it free and had both results, the first time I did so the person didn't come back and I was crushed, however I did it last year and I am now happily engaged.

I took the chance and walked away from my boyfriend. He came running back so fast. I wanted to be in a committed relationship and he didn't. So I told him that neither one of us should compromise what the other wanted so we should both call it quits and let me purse what I wanted. Needless to say he could not bare the thought of me with someone else so we are trying the relationship thing and we both couldn't be happier. Good luck !! I hope it works out for you. If it was meant to be it will be. Don't force it.

I set one free and he never came back. I still think about him every now and then but I don't wait around for him to call.

About 3 months ago I lost the love of my life. He gave no real reason as to why, just that he thought it was time. It was the hardest thing for me to move out of our home of 8.5 years & basically start my life all over again. I was ready to let go of everything when he decided that I was all he wanted & needed. I'm still scared that he may do this again, but for me it is better to love & loose than to not love at all.
