The majority of all the ills in the world are caused by religion and greed. If we focused our attention
on humanity people might begin to understand how short our time on earth is.
It seems that many of the people in control of the largest corporations and politicians are either insensitive to what is happening environmentally or they fall back on fairy tales for a cruch (god knows what to do and whats best so only things that are supposed to happen happen) or both.
So remove religion (Please Mr. Alien Spaceman show up and hit the fairy tale junkies with a clue bat) and the politically, social and environment issues will start to fade away.
The social issues will take the most time because there are millions of fairy tale fools out there who are barely kept at bay with the fear of going to hell let alone prison.
I didn't mention hate because I think once people start to see the true value of life "all" social issues will disappear.
The political issues will take time too but once people accept the truth about life and we start to understand we are all in this together humanity will take care of the political issues.
The environment will take very little time compared to the other two if we focus on it. We know the cause of it all and we can do something but we have to do it soon. Time is tight.
Yes time is tight and with the fairy tale infested population here on earth I truly do not see any changes except for the perpetuation of hate for one another that we see growing daily accross the world.
Think people think !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

it is a fact that more people have been slaughtered in the name of one religion or another than for any other reason in the history of mankind.
so.... without religion, the middle east would be a beautiful place to visit, New York City would still have it's grand skyline, people wouldn't lock the doors and turn out the lights every time they see someone dressed in k-mart clothes walking up their drive, all the property currently being used by places of worship could be put to more practical use. People could settle their differences with logical debates rather than nonsensical ravings of brainwashed minds that refuse to accept the fact that they could be wrong.
It would be a beutiful world!

Not that you ever could prove religion to be wrong, but if you did, I think you'd be sorry. If there were no consequences from God for whatever you did, I could just go over to your house, steal all your stuff, kill your family and never have to answer for it. You would never be able to trust anyone or turn your back on anyone. Those people that think we are stupid for being Christians or Jews or Muslims, etc. benefit from it whether they know it or not. Imagine a world with no goodness in it. What an udder hell it would be!

It has already happened to me. I have been a non-believer for 40 years. I haven't gone nuts, killing, pillaging or stealing. And my reason is not because I would go to hell or be a sinner or god wouldn't give me a new bike. I base my morality on what makes sense: if you steal, it hurts you, and others. First of all, you have to believe that you don't deserve to have what you are stealing, so you sneak it. If you knew you deserved it, you could work for it, ask for it, make it. If you kill, it is violence against yourself first. I raised 2 lovely sons, and have had a long career.
I think it is more intelligent to be good because it makes sense, than because you will get caught (eventually.) And bad things happen to me, too, but not because some god was busy helping someone else, but because of the natural flow of life. Some good, some bad, all based on my own interpretation and attitude.

Nothing at all would happen. There is absolutely nothing that a religious person will accept as evidence against his/her dogma.
But it is interesting that some people think there would be chaos. They assume people will become immoral because there would be no reason to be moral. These people are saying that they only have a sense of right or wrong because of the rewards or punishments they'll receive for their behavior. I can't imagine a flimsier moral code. In fact, as stated it's not moral at all!

How do you *prove* something that is based on belief? You can't point at something and say: See, that shows there is no God. Until you can do that, people will continue to believe and have religion. Heck -- with most folks, even if you *could* do that, they'd *still* continue to deny it and believe! Just look at some of the groups still out there and what they believe in that has been *proven* wrong.

How about reversing that question....what would happen if we found out that all religions are right? They do all share some very basic principles..... who knows? Maybe they are all based on the same original thing. Who knows.... maybe the world could stop fightingin the name of religion.... (of course we'd still have wars over oil, land, etc...so I guess nothing would change)

If all current religions were PROVEN wrong, most people would just get busy and try to find or create one that might be true.
If that proved impossible, then the only sane response would be total hedonism. Which would cause anarchy. Which would precipitate war. And THAT would be the end of us.

Thats the thing about religion, it can't be proven right or wrong.
If there were a way to do it, the proof would be quickly destroyed and ignored as a hoax.
I don't thing there would be any moral issue as morals are not unique to religion, they are a societal creation, often expressed through religion, but not unique. Athiests are not (usually) immoral and not all religious people are moral.

I think that devout religious people would go insane and be confused, maybe even keep believing that nothing happened....as for the rest of the world....I think morals would be completely thrown out the window and people would cheat on everyone else all the time, more murders would happen....chaos.
