Supposedly Oprah Winfrey is one? Is that for real or some kind of joke?

Sorry LindaLou, I'm talking about "real life" not a video game or rpg (or both).

It's a joke. Came from robot chicken, I think. Necro = the dead mancy = magic. Necromancy is magic that deals with the dead. There was a skit on robot chicken where she gave everyone a new car, gave american indians the louisiana purchase, and raised the dead so their families could see their loved ones again. Funny stuff. Well, not when I do it, you have to see it.

The Necromancer profession specialises in sacrifice, be it of corpses or the Necromancer's own health. Necromancers revel in inflicting diseases and curses on the enemy. Once dead, an enemy becomes just another resource to be used; either inflicting damage, or to restore the Necromancer. The Necromancer is able to deal out large amounts of damage quickly, but in the process will become very vulnerable to counter-attack. It is imperative, therefore, that Necromancers choose their skills wisely and learn when to use them and when to show restraint. Corpses lying on the battlefield are a Necromancer's best friend, as they can be utilised to deal damage or raise undead minions to fight beside the Necromancer.

The Necromancer has access to four Attributes. These are Soul Reaping, Curses, Death Magic, and Blood Magic. Soul Reaping is only available if you take Necromancer as your primary profession.

Necromancy (Latin necromantia, Greek νεκρομαντία nekromantía) is a form of divination in which the practitioner seeks to summon the spirits of the dead in order to gain knowledge of future events from them. These spirits are called Operative Spirits and Spirits of Divination. The word derives from the Greek νεκρός nekrós "dead" and μαντεία manteía "divination".
