If I'm making it myself, it would usually just have mayo, lettuce, tomato and possibly cheese. But the best hamburger I ever had in my life was made by an Australian throwing a thank you party. There were burgers and then a giant buffet line of things to put on the burger. Really strange stuff like beets, sliced pineapple, etc. But it was fabulous. If you get a chance, look up these Aussie burgers on search engine and check out what all they have on them and then be brave and give it a try. It's amazing.

Medium-grilled burger with hand grated chedder cheese, bacon, ketchup, mustard, pickle and red onion on a good kaiser roll.
