I'm always unsure what to do when I'm with a group of people and a lot of people are coming in and out of a building at the same time. Should I hold the door open for the women and then go in myself, or should I hold it open for a group of people and then go in? Also, are people supposed to leave before other people can go in? If someone pulls the door open is it rude to walk in?

You are hereby awarded the "GENTLEMAN OF THE YEAR" award. Your question is so thoughtful toward the human race and so difficult to come by. I am speechless and that has never happened to me before.

When I enter a building I hold the door open for whoever is exiting.
Then if someone is behind me, I make sure they have a hold on the door before I let the door go. If someone pulls the door open and kind of steps back I will enter first and then say thank you!

If someone has packages, kids, babies, etc. I stand and hold the door for them coming or going. Or the same for elderly people. I just started doing that for the elderly, I used to let the door hit them in the head and laugh, point my finger at them, mean things
like that. But, now that I am getting older, I hold the door for them too. I just hope God doesn't remember when I didn't hold it open!
(YOU KNOW THAT LAST PART ABOUT OLD PEOPLE IS A JOKE RIGHT?) I wouldn't even do that to my ex husband. (maybe
I would, just to him)

A nice gesture is to speed up a bit and open the door for a lady, then go in, and once you got in, hold the door open for the gentlemen behind while facing your body towards the inside of the building. That way the ladies will be taken care of and the gentleman would be properly signaled to hold the door open for himself and those behind him.

Hope this helps :-)

i'm sometimes unsure though to.
but, i would get freaked out if someone opened the door and let me walk in first.
everyone just holds the door and waits for you to hold it. my whole life that is what i have seen, but i have only lived for 14 years.

I hold the door for the next person and move on. If that person walks through and doesn't take the door, then they are rude.
