Check with the department you are testing with first. Is it a civil service exam? Most police exams are general knowledge exams. You will need to know math, grammer, spelling, etc... If you know any officers that work for the department you are applying with, then you may want to check with them.

I think the best place to consult for study materials would be directly from your local police station. Even if they cannot help you, I'm sure that they could point you in the right direction.

I'm hoping if it's your ambition to become a cop that you already have a lot of general knowledge of the occupation. Pretty darn scary to think that you don't!
