TOYOTA rocks..
No matter how many companies that Ford owns, they are still way behind Toyota.. Let's put it this way.. Ford has a lot of companies to take care of while Toyota focuses solely on Toyota and its sibling, Lexus ( and Scion to some extent)... So, they do a better job than Ford.. Ford is like a child with lots of siblings who receives lesser attention from parents whilst Toyota is the big brother in the family who's being loved and cherished by his parents....

I will get flack for this, I am sure.
Ford has been building cars since 1903 and has been the number one car manufacturer for long periods of time. GM finally passed them up and is now sinking. Toyota is poised to become number one in the near future. I think that ford is more innovative with their designs, and I think Toyota is more innovative with their engineering. When it comes to quality and customer service, Toyota gets better marks than Ford. When it comes to customer loyalty both do well. I was Toyota mechanic in the 70's and 80's and saw Toyota claw their way through the competition by providing good customer service and standing behind their product. But I am a Ford fan and have owned Fords for almost 50 years. I have never had a hassle with a vehicle that was not taken care of by the Ford Dealership network. I do know that some service managers can be difficult to work with, but my approach was to go over their heads. Your other answerer's show me that Toyota hard work is paying off, but I really don't believe that their is any significant difference in the quality of their products.

Fords are the devil. Definitely get a Toyota. You'll see an old Toyota on the road about 10X more often than an old Ford. Fords start having problems at 20,000 miles. Toyotas start having problems at 170,000 miles. I'd support the Americans if they knew how to build reliable cars, but unfortunately, that's something we haven't accomplished yet.

I have owned 2 Mercurys, 1 Ford and 1 Lincoln. None of them survived past about 100,000 miles. Friends have had Toyotas for past 200,000. So I bought a Toyota Matrix.
30 MGP
Expect and will get 200,000 miles
Comfortable and convenient
Modest price
I don't know what Toyota stands for but FORD, stands for Found On Road Dead.
Sorry Mr. Ford, but I've switched!

toyota!
and for JB68's information, I work next door to Toyota which supplies thousands of job in that facility alone, then 2 exits down is the parts and distribution plant which is another few thousand jobs, and then 45 minutes away but in the same state is another Toyota plant which is another few thousand jobs, the toyota in georgetown also supports my job because they're a customer of ours! So, the point is, if you buy a Toyota, you're saving thousands of Jobs for us Kentucky folks!
and as far as ford having a better repair rating, that's because ford's actually need repairs, whereas toyota's don't have a rating because they never need any repairs!!!!

Toyota due to better reliability but nothing beats the Ford's of the 60's/early 70's.

I have a Toyota Corolla S and it is an awesome little car. Great on the gas mileage, too. I wouldn't buy a Ford.
