In the government-funded charter school La Academia Semillas del Pueblo, the Los Angeles public school teaches "Aztec math" (ancient dot math is the new math)
That's the tip of the iceberg:
Aztlan Academy in Tucson, Ariz. According to The Race, the school's success rests on "Aztlan's ability to integrate a meaningful Chicano Studies program into their lives, language and academics, as a means of developing their intellects as well as their pride and self-esteem." The school's name – a reference to a mythical swath of the vast Southwestern U.S. expanse, which Latino activists claim is their rightful homeland and which they seek to reconquer for Mexico – says it all.

Mexicayotl Academy in Nogales, Ariz. Who needs the three Rs? At Mexicayotl, it's all about the three Ms: me, me, me! The school's program is "structured and developed around the concepts of identity, culture and language." Second mission: supporting local ethnic lobbying efforts "to right social injustices by educating the community and helping create social change." Under "greatest achievements," the school's website lists its participation in a "Peace and Dignity Run"; its visit from Rigoberta Menchu (the Marxist academic fraud from Guatemala who lied her way to a Nobel Peace Prize); and its sponsorship of the local annual Dia de los Muertos (the Mexican holiday)

The Dolores Huerta Preparatory High School in Pueblo, Colo. It's named after the far-left Latina labor union activist who recently railed that "Republicans hate Latinos," praised illegal-alien marchers and screeched that "We didn't cross the borders, the borders crossed us" in a hate-filled tirade before Arizona students.
Academia Cesar Chavez Charter School in St. Paul, Minn. Board of Directors member Louis Mendoza, an activist Chicano Studies professor, pushed the school to lobby for the federal DREAM Act (providing in-state tuition discounts to illegal-alien students not available to legal non-residents). The school's website features one flag on its front page: the Mexican flag

LOL. I distinctly remember Jay Leno doing those segments where he went out and questioned people out on the streets of California, and asked them current event questions and it was so hillarious because of these people's utter ignorance and stupidity. Yeah, I'm sure you will chalk it up to those people being tourists from the red states. LOL

The only way to fix the education problem is to get the gov out of it and break the teachers union. Until then, we are just wasting tax dollars.
Noestoli (just so you know), I saw a news clip that took a map of the Middle East around NYC. I think one or two out of maybe 20 people actually got it right. However, these people were asked to point out different USA states (ie: Ohio) and most of them couldn't do that either. I guess we are "well educated" in all states.

Well, though personally, I find that Aztec number dot math is a waste of time, I dont have a problem with it as an elective. And a name of a school should not be a concern of yours. I hate Ronald Reagan and George Bush, but I dont refuse to fly from the airports named after them.
A bigger waste of time than Aztec dots is Church, no? I mean, we have PROOF that the Aztecs did this right? So that gives it far more credibility than religion. I mean, I sure hope theres a God, dont get me wrong, but unless theres proof, all we're going on is 3,000 year old writings that ANYONE could have written.
So next time you want to bash "LIBERALS", think about how much time and money you waste on religion.
Oh, and HEY DOUCHEBAG!! Jay Leno only uses the shots of people getting tha answers wrong. Plus, red states suck you f-ing bible thumping redneck.

Though I completely understand your angst in this area, it does not one ioda of good to rail against the machinations of liberal bias in the attempt to garner votes. This is a common problem that makes the right wing looks evil because the utilization of common sense (which is not very common) materializes after a certain amount of non-emotional evaluation.
When discussing these issues, you may want to attempt the approach in this manner:
When all evidence points to language immersion, modern structered mathematics, and accepted scientific methods as the correct way to numerically increase immigrants knowledge and employment opportunities in the USA. Why is the left wing still screaming about self-esteem issues, which come from having a solid based education and strong job skills?

No this is the plan to make sure we are last in all things, like so many of the latino nations.
However, the latino community has so very much to offer when it comes to culture.
But there is no such thing as a level playing field when it comes to education. You can be from anywhere and achieve amazing things. You just can't be lazy and expect the world to come down to your level. SO...... Liberal minds want to bring the educational system down to the level of the students, and not require them to work harder TO ACHIEVE MORE.
Illegals should not be afforded any educational privileges in the U.S.A. Get legal then we can talk about education.

Well I think there are politicians that get, basically, pressured (politically blackmailed) by extremely large mexican populations to do their bidding. Either the local gov't funded the school or they don't get re-elected. While I am no liberal, I guarantee most republicans would cave as well. The illegals have a lot of econimic pull and our politicians, on both sides, are pathetically weak willed when it comes to getting/retaining their office.

No, our plan is to keep the students in the red states (you know, the dumb ones that we support with our tax dollars who couldn't even point out Iraq on a map if it meant a six pack of bud) from ever take any more tests. It's their scores that are dragging down the national average.

I know what you are talking about, but I don't think the liberals should take all the blame, Rove spoke at the La Raza convention this past weekend in LA and told them President Bush is on their side. Reagan was the first president to grant amnesty.

i do not imagine that's faith that is getting contained in the way, except possibly in Texas. that's Republicans which have this dumb-*** way of "slicing" our thanks to prosperity, even as they insist on having no guidelines on commerce, so as that the wealthy and grasping can do something they prefer to kill off small company, deliver jobs foreign places etc. aftr ruining our monetary device on Wall highway. those "wealthy and grasping" individuals ought to USE some strong previous hellfire and brimstone to scare them into behaving in an ethical way. curiously no longer something else will artwork to cause them to be good human beings. in the intervening time, that's reduce, reduce, reduce funds for the humanistic issues, like training. Make no mistake—it extremely is between the way Republicans favor to "stability the funds." loose training, I say—college for all of us that qualifies. do away with the earnings reason even as it is composed of clinical care and coaching. yet no—and do you imagine the earnings reason became recommended by employing Jesus Christ? i do not imagine so.

Why don't you become part of the solution, not part of the problem.
