Is the buttered side facing the back of the cat or the other way around?

That would be the one instance where the toast would not fall butter side down. So, when the cat landed on its feet it would then roll over, thus completing the required cycle!

It will definitely fall.
Cats can upright themselves (i.e. turn their body in order to land feet first. If they have enough height. They also have a slow fallingrate. Therefor cats have survived ten story falls. But they would have a greasy back if they fell into your clutches.

I don't even think this question is funny, if that's what you are trying to accomplish. You have a mean streak in you.....which shows you have no regard for animals, so how could you have any regard for any living thing.
Other people have answered it by saying they would land on their feet. I just had to get my opinion in.
