Uh, they already have? Do you ever listen to the rhetoric coming out of the CA State Assembly or the Mayor of Los Angeles or the Democratic Senators in DC? The southwestern US is being eyed, piece-meal, as an extension of Mexico, although under significantly different rule.

Where we live (Calif, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas) is still claimed by the indigenous peoples as their ancestral lands (and therefore not part and parcel US land).

What will prevent the armed and active defense of these principles, along with free transit and worker rights for those on either side of the current US border?

What will prevent a cultural co-opting of these states, whereby the American citizenry slowly exit these states because of taxation and other social burdens that make living in the Southwest financially unsustainable...changing the demographic to significantly reflect a Native Central American majority (oddly enough, not the majority that existed prior to the beginning of US settlement of the area)?

What will happen to the impoverished US legal citizens in these states when the inevitable influx of more external labor/immigrants comes across the border? What will happen to the illegal and legal immigrants already here when their friends, relatives and countrymen begin to vie for the same work and lower wages?

The ideological insurgency has been here for decades. If the immigration trends continue, and social services and wages begin to encroach on the ability of the immigrants to make a decent living here, because there are more of them, and less work and less social service funding available, people will naturally be upset (the funders and those who avail themselves of these underfunded programs). This dissatisfaction will likely turn into a cultural and economic conflict, where the tax revenue providers become fed up and refuse to assume more burden, and the newly arrived become fed up because the promise of 'better' is no longer kept by the US, and a confrontation of needs and desires materializes.

The US owes its legal citizens and immigrants the best opportunity to succeed and progress. There is a sustainability issue there. If there is nothing done to address the influx of social service and infrastructure consumers, then there will be less to go around for everyone (including and least mentioned, those who are already here by whatever means). It is not a limitless spigot, there are boundaries, and they should be defined, supported and defended, not deferred in hopes that things work themselves out. Here's hoping it's not an armed conflict that decides the future of America's make-up in the next 100 years.

Or, have they done so already? What's this 'reconquista' all about, if not an emulation of the middle east? Let's NOT have that crap happen in america....build the border fence...

the first 2 concerns on your record do not even belong to Obama - pondering the very incontrovertible actuality that the score organization quite called out the movements of Congress because the clarification, and the gun-walking application replaced into once all started below Bush. the finished record is unquestionably made-up garbage.

Mexicans are catholics. Not as crazy as the palestinians who build suicide armys of 12 year olds.
