My 1 year old jack russel has been fully potty trained for about 7 months. He has been sleeping a lot lately, and today I was sitting on the bed doing paper work, and he was sleeping at my feet and he peed while he was sleeping. Is this normal? Or is there something wrong with him? He also has not been drinking much water lately. I leave a bowl of water out for him, and I give him fresh water everyday, however theres hardly has been any gone at all. Does anyone know what could be going on with him?

He also does not seem to listen very well at times now, but he is pretty trained. He will be lying on the floor 5 feet from me andif i call him 10 times he will only look at me and lay back down. Is this normal ??

First, get him checked by a vet to rule out medical problems.
As he is getting older, he's growing independent. Soon he won't listen at all if you don't start training him that your commands are not optional.
All terriers tend to be bright and inquisitive - and easily bored by repetitive exercises. This is why methods used on breeds like Goldens and Collies won't work. You have to keep training sessions short and interesting, with fun and tasty rewards. The dog has to clearly see the advantage of obeying you. It's best to begin when the pup is very young - once they've learned to get away with bad behavior you'll have a hell of a time breaking it. Terriers use their intelligence to get OUT of doing what you want. Unless you're very talented and very experienced, it's unlikely that your terrier will ever be reliable off-leash. If a barking dog or a cat or a squirrel comes along - wham! - there goes your dog. Instinct is much more powerful than training.
All Terriers are quick learners, but they can be really stubborn about doing what YOU want when YOU want them to do it. They can also be aggressive towards other animals - many will kill cats and squirrels, but that doesn't mean they will turn on people. Females are easier, both to train and to housebreak.
You should read some great books on training. (Try not to pick books randomly - there are a lot of bad books out there also!) These are some of my favorites and you can get them on Amazon.com

I have a Jack Russell too. I have never had this problem. I would take your dog to the vet to get checked. I always take my little guy whenever I think something is wrong or needs to be checked. I rather be safe then sorry. Sounds like a UTI(Urinary tract Infection) to me. Good Luck.

It sounds like when my Pomeranian had a urinary tract infection! he leaked urine too when he was sick. They put him on a antibiotic and he's great and back to normal. This wont go away on its own- u need a vet for the medication! GIVE him extra love and pets too! That always helps!

This happened to my aunt once, her brother died and she didn't even have the strenth to warn her owners that she had to go, she just went in the house. Don't get angry at your jack russel, just surround him with extra love and care and he should be back on his paws in a day or two.
