I am getting married in July and I am just afraid that it will be waaaay to hot to dance and enjoy meyself at the reception. (And I love to dance!) so my plan is to have my long traditional gown for the ceremony and then have a shorter dress for the reception. do you think that this would seem pretentious?

I think this is a great idea! You can have something formal and "stiff" for the ceremony and something lighter and more comfortable for the reception. I'll imagine that your second dress will be way less expensive.

For the benefit of those who want to see your more formal gown close up, you might consider wearing the first gown during your reception entrance and first dance, and then changing into the lighter gown after a half-hour or hour. If that's too cumbersome, then just wear the second gown throughout the reception.

Enjoy your day!

My daughter's wedding dress was a two peice. She wore the long trained skirt for the ceremony and then wore a shorter skirt with the corseted top for the reception. So, no, I don't think it's pretentious of you. Have fun at your wedding..it your most special day..you are allowed to do whatever you want. So, buy another cooler dress to dance the night away in with your new husband. Got to have another pair of shoes too...Have the most wonderful day possible, make your own decision. It is your and your fiance's day and what you say goes! Good luck and best wishes, dance one for this old lady.....God bless...

I think if it is going to make you happy on your wedding day, go for it! Perhaps the dress for the reception should just be a little less fancy so it seems just like a nice dress you bought to be more comfortable. Don't let your reception dress be too fancy and make sure it isn't nicer than the dress you wore for the ceremony.
It would not be pretentious at all.

I went to a wedding last November where the bride wore her gown through the ceremony and about halfway through the reception, then she went and changed into a white club dress. It was a bit unusual - but yes, you can do whatever you want. Two wedding gowns sounds very expensive though - if you can afford that, you go girl!!!

my sister in law had a dress designed for that very purpose. It was a lightweight slightly longer than knee length dress with a full skirt and train that went over it. the top was designed so that it looked good as the simple dress and looked really nice with the full skirt and train attached. After the ceremony, for the reception the full skirt and train were removed easily and she was comfortable but still in 'wedding dree' for the reception. It was absolutely beautiful

This is your day. There is nothing at all wrong with wearing what you want to wear. As a matter of fact, it would make a lot less sense to be uncomfortable for your own wedding reception. If someone thinks that's pretentious it's their problem.

I like the idea of having a fitted short white dress - one where the bodice is everything you like and want in a wedding dress. Then have a full length skirt that is elegant and matches the bodice but which you can take off for the reception.

That would be cool and different after all it is your wedding. You will have time to change agter your picturesify ou allow so. Trust me you will still get hot in your long gown and in air conditioning, my wedding everybody said it was cold but I was burning up and typically I am the one always freezing.
Good luck and CONGRATS!

i love the second one one. i'm not particular what you advise by skill of murrain? yet i'm quite particular it really is a ailment that cows and sheep get...? ...yet I even haven't any problems with something in any respect about the second one gown. i love it. the first gown's waist looks too a techniques dropped for me? And from the lower back, curiously like a lace petticoat is putting out from lower than the gown. also, i don't like the ruffles interior the front of the skirt or the elaborate project on the neckline on the fashions' excellent facet....excellent the position right here ponytail touches the bodice interior the front...what's that? LOL My vote is going to gown decision 2!

You certainly can. I lived in Taiwan for three years and attended several Chinese weddings. Brides there change 6 or 7 times, the entire day is basically a day for the bride to look glamourous and beautiful. I say do whatever you like and look good doing it.
