From a completely secular point of view, technically before you're even conceived. Egg and sperm are both living, and they continue to live after they're combined. Whether or not that life can be considered human... well... that's debatable. I mean mosquitoes are alive too, but almost no one has a problem swatting em. You're likely trying to determine when it might be "wrong" to terminate a pregnancy, yes? I would say when it gains the ability to think. Before that, it's really just a mass of cells. You could call it "potential" life, but frankly, simply menstruation, or masturbation for men, kills "potential" life, doesn't it?

The soul and spirit exist at that time when God decides that you will one day come to life. Because God has always existed and He knows all of us by name, your soul and spirit always existed.Your life on Earth begins when the sperm and ovum combine into a zygote.

were talking about two different things here. soul and spirit are spirtual things and life is scientific. spiritualy, i dont think the soul enters the body untill the baby is born and leaves just before the person dies but, scientificaly the life begins when the sperm inters the egg as far as a new lif is concerned but its debateable because the egg and sperm are already living organisms .

Hmmm.... God told Jeremiah:
"Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."
Jeremiah 1:5 (NIV)
So that pretty much confirms that all life created by God has a plan, a purpose and specific giftings at the time of conception.
Each person is created with a 'soul'. God's Spirit enters that soul upon receiving Jesus Christ and entering into a relationship with God.

Some faiths believe that a person is not 'real' and totally on this earth until they're at least 7 years old. Others, including the Bible, say that with breath comes life.
I sometimes think that a person isn't completely ensouled until they're at least 30, but I'm a tiny minority...

The soul is eternal. It decides when it will come into physical incarnation, while still on the spiritual side. When you die, you revert to spiritual form again. It is simply the physical incarnation that dies. Not the true self.

There is no such thing as a soul, only consciousness. It comes into existence when full consciousness develops. Perhaps around age 2.
