Its the needle..Its in the new manual for executions...It was just in the news not long ago because people freaked and thought they would use it on the people locked up in Gitmo. They get more chances to appeal than people in civilian system. This makes people angry because a lot of people think the military is too easy on people convicted. Nobody gets shot or hung anymore.

I work for the military and have spent time in the military.

The military has it's own judicial process. This process is higher than any court in the US other than the Supreme Court. Typically if the military member is found to have to carry out the death penalty, the Supreme Court will review the case, if they deem with the the Military Courts that it is a just cause sentence then the soldier will be sentenced to Ft Leavenworth were they will serve a minimum of 20 years with the chance to one appeal. If they are turned down during that appeal the military member will then be allowed to have the choice of how they want to be killed (lethal injection, electric chair or firing range). The military still recognizes the firing range as an appropriate means of death punishment. So needless to say, that is how things work in this for the military.

Well it depends , which military are you talking about. We used to hang soldiers for crimes like murder. Such is the case in ww2 when we hung soldiers for crimes like that. Now a days hanging isnt used anymore. Firing squad I dont believe is used anymore in our military. With all the complaints about the death penalty and stuff. Well I believe lethal injection may be used, though on rare cases firing squad could be used. But like I said each military has its own death sentences. The only difference is which one is more humane and which one is more cruel.

I have never actually heard of someone being put to death in this day and age by any military court. I believe if the conviction is that severe, then they would be handed over to federal court, but back in the day, they were shot.

The US military now has lethal injection as their method of enforcing the death penalty. Formerly the US military used hanging for the death penalty. By the way, the last execution in the US military was in 1961.

Death sentences and appeals are both handled in accordance with the Uniform Code of Military Justice. http://www.au.af.mil/au/awc/awcgate/ucmj.htm
