Pray and seek God for a church that He has called you to. And if that doesn't work maybe you're afraid of conviction. It could be a subconcious thing that you need to deal with.

You're on the right track...keep stepping away from that church as fast as you can.

Next step...for all Christians would be:

Read a different book! Put down that Bible and read something else...really.

Maybe you could start with the now 170 year old title "The Origin of Species" written by the Rev. Charles Darwin...yes he was an Anglican priest. This is a dangerous text because it blows the concept that Humans were some how "created" separately from everything else.

Or perhaps something from the last century...you know the 20th century..that seems to have passed you by. "A Brief History of Time" by Stephan Hawking...which probably has way too much math...so I'm sure you will avoid the headache.

Ok...How about this...find some used college textbooks like "Biology 101", "Basic Physics", "Chemistry 101" and "Physical Geography 101". That should get you occupied for a year or two giving you ample time to kick the Bible addiction.

...get tuned up a little...and quit reading authors from 5000 years ago when the world didn't know sh** and people thought dreams came from God.

Then you can really form an informed opinion about what it's all about!

Most church services aren't what they used to be. If you are bored, it's either because you have other things on your mind that seem more interesting than sitting in church, or the Holy Spirit is not operating in your church or through your leadership. The Spirit of God is what makes church awesome, not man.

The Sunday service is for equipping the saints for the work of the ministry. When the Spirit is moving through your pastor with a message that is inspired by God, the word he preaches will stir your heart and make you want to change what God is convicting you about. The message will bring forth some revelation about God that makes you see Him more clearly each time the pastor preaches, and the more you see God, the more you become like Him. It ministers to areas where you're struggling...it strengthens you. It gives you direction.

Is this what you are missing?

Yes, mostly because of the types of Christians that have Answered your question. They certainly don't shine with the love of God now do they? I would love to go to Church if I could find a place with people who believe that love is the most important gift of the spirit and realize that they should take the log out of there own eye before complaining about the sliver in someone elses. If they were willing to discuss rather then preach and put compassion above judgement.

I love God and I would love to go worship him with people who have love not jsut piety. I am still looking although I will tell you that I did find it once when I went to the torchbearer school in Germany. Good people. I think all you can do is keep looking and while you aren't at cheer make sure you at least spend a lot of time with God.

I think, maybe, you are becoming disillusioned with the denomination you belong to. Many people left my church (U.S. Episcopal) after a homosexual bishop was elected a few years ago, and more are leaving now because the church has elected a woman to be its leader for the first time since its inception. Personally, I am proud of the advanced my church has made, and I have always felt that being Episcopalian is the right way for me to worship. Do some research into different denominations or go to church with friends. Find the way to worship that fits you, and never mind what you're "supposed" to do.

I think most pastors are good people, but I don't see the need for a pastor. Church methods now are sort of archaic. I think Christians would benefit much more from small groups gathering together and discussing the Bible in depth. Studying it together, reading it, and then discussing what it means to each individual.

One persons' opinion is not necessarily how God is speaking to you at a particular time anyway. My grandmother is a Methodist pastor, and she's great. But I don't always agree with her interpretation of the Bible.

I'd like to see preaching going out, and afternoon study sessions replacing it. It takes away the "power" one person can have over influencing a large group of people. It minimizes the risk of a miss-informed congregation. It stimulates thinking!

It's funny how it began...Jesus preaching in the wilderness. But hey, if you don't go to a church, you're not a good christian. Maybe it's because so many "Christians" are too concerned with who else is attending church, because they are too wrapped up in "judging" everyone else based on something as trivial as church attendance.
If you really beleive in God, you don't need a certain building, or religious artifacts around you to strengthen your faith. Lift a stone, and Jesus is with you, split some wood, and he is there. God is everywhere, at all times....why would you have to attend a scheduled mass in a predetermined location to worship the omnipotent?

It's all in the church. I believe in God and church, but if the church doesn't make you feel wwlcome then you aren't getting what you need from it. Keep searching for the right church, you will find it. And...it is fun to go to different churches and see the different styles of preaching.

Some days I don't feel like going, but I go anyway and end up feeling glad that I went. If you really can't stand it then you need to find a new church that suits your needs. Everyone is different. Like me, I couldn't stand going to a church with a dull pastor and an organ player etc.. It needs to be exciting, keep looking..you'll find one you like.

Sounds like you have some problems. Maybe you need another church or could be too that you need to deny yourself of some selfish wants. What is it that is keeping you from wanting to go to church? If its lack of The Spirit in church, try a different church. If its the game on tv that sunday, then you need to get your priorities straight. God first! Jesus loves you.

I am a Christian, and was raised attending church, but somewhere along the way it just became very uncomfortable for me. I am a pretty private person. I know the people there mean well, but it seems they want to know EVERYTHING about my life right away, and it really puts me off. Sometimes I even have good intentions to attend, but when it comes right down to it, I can't make myself go.
