The question reflects the wrong attitude. If you love God, instead of "have to", why wouldn't you want to spend time with others who are worshiping Him and studying His word?

1Corinthians 13:6 tells us that love "delights in the truth". If we have this attitude, shouldn't we delight in every opportunity to study together and hear messages preached from God's word? King David said, "I was glad when they said to me, Let us go into the house of the Lord!" (Psalm 122:1)

Secondly, the church is "the body" of Christ.(Eph 1:22-23) How can we love Christ without loving His body?

Third, There are some things we are told to do, that we cannot do alone. Among these are singing to each other (Eph 5:19, Col 3:16), encouraging each other, teaching each other, etc. If you do not go to worship services, you miss out on this opportunity to serve God.

Forth, Hebrews 10:25 instructs us to not forsake the assembly.

Attending church is a joy if you attend with the idea of being able to encourage others. If you go with the selfish desire of "what will I get out of it", you will often be dissapointed. Remember, the idea should be what you can give, not what you can get. If you don't go, you can't give anything.

Notice the focus of Hebrews 10:25. "Let us consider how to stimulate one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking the assembling together as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another..."

Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

It's vitally important that you go to Church; it doesn't save you, nor can you lose salvation by not going. But it permits you to learn and be encouraged by other Christians.

O dear the sabath day is a saterday, but you can have a day of prayer and bible reading at home. the church is not a building it is the people of God that make up the church ( body of Christ ). it may not spacefic but it does imply we should spend time with other beleavers. where 2 or 3 are gathered there I will be in their midst.

A person does not need to GO to church to worship. A church is not just a building. A "church" can be anywhere. People rejoicing and thankful for life are what make a church what is. A church with out love and people who belive in something make it just an empty building....

"Keep holy the Sabbath day."

And remember that almost every one of St. Paul's letters in the New Testament are addressed to a church -- the church at Corinth, the church at Galatia, the church at Rome, etc.

These are not the words of a man who thinks it's sufficient for Christians to sit at home and just read our Bibles.

No, Paul's letters are clear that he was a churchman, and that we are meant to worship God in community.

In one of his letters to the Corinthians (I forget which), Paul lists a whole bunch of rules and customs to be followed in community worship. This alone is evidence of Paul's expectation that Christians worship God as a group and a community.

It doesn't say you must go to church. But it does say you do need fellowship- the getting together of others to discuss and learn. It's fine that you just read your Bible- but every now and again try to get together with a group of other Christains for fellowship.

If you're not part of the Body of christ, you'll soon die...like the heart without the body dies sooner or later .....besides you won't feel lonely...and you will get proper techings form a pastor etc...a church is important...but only if it's fully Bible based...
