A sauna is dry heat and a steam room is wet heat (steam).

For some people with respiratory problems, only the sauna is possible.

It all depends on which you find more relaxing and more soothing to your problem. I find I cannot stay very long (2-3 min) in a steam room but longer (10 min) in a sauna.

A sauna is dry heat and a steam room is wet. Some people feel that working up a good sweat is good for your health, others just like it because it's relaxing.
