Actually I thought that Ellen Gould White was the anti-christ...

The name of the woman who started Seventh-Day Adventism, Ellen Gould White, adds up to 666: Ellen=100, Gould=555, White=11. Does this "prove" that the foundress of this religion was the beast? If you say "No," then the tallying of the name means nothing. If he says "Yes," then what are SDA's doing belonging to a church founded by the beast? Either way this argument collapses.

SDA's have long attributed the title (that the Pope has never held) "Vicarius Filii Dei" as being a sign of the anti-christ. If they use this analogy, why don't they apply it to their own founder as well? The problem is that Vicarius Filii Dei is not a title of the pope. One of his titles, in fact his chief title, is Vicarius Christi (Vicar of Christ), but, unfortunately for Seventh-Day Adventists and other anti-Catholics who attempt to use this ploy, Vicarius Christi adds up to only a measly 214, not the infernal 666.

According to Daniel 9:26, the Antichrist will be an Italian gentile. So, no, I do not believe the current Pope fits that bill.

There are several other criteria the Antichrist will meet, as explained in Daniel, such as his disgust for organized religion. It's difficult to conceive that any Pope will meet the expected criteria to qualify as the Antichrist.

I believe the next Pope (not the current one) is a better candidate for the False Prophet (who will also be a gentile, but we don't know where he'll come from). The Catholic Church is probably Mystery Babylon.

Just my two cents.

Yes, I can safely say that you might be the only person who believes that the pope is the antichrist and that the Roman Catholic church was created by the devil. How is that perspective/attitude working out for you so far in life?

antichrist:
1 An enemy of Christ.
2 Antichrist The epithet of the great antagonist who was expected by the early Church to set himself up against Christ in the last days before the Second Coming.
3 A false Christ.

2 John 1:7 "For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist."

It states here that there are many among us. 1 John 2:18 "Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time."

The scripture states that there are many antichrists. But I am not sure that the Pope now is the one that is mentioned in Revelation below
Revelation19:20" And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone."

If the entire Bible is not believed and taught by a relegion then it is a false relegion.

Most Catholics are not evil. Misled ... maybe, but their hearts (true Catholics anyway) are sincere. As to the Pope being the anti-Christ, he is a potential candidate. Revelations does say "beware the peacemaker". You have no right, however, to pass judgment on people because of how they believe. No one does. Only God has that right. How the Catholics believe is between each individual and God and no one else. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. (I am a non-denominational Christian, by the way, not Catholic).

Amen to d8 - that's a good summary. The Lutheran Church (LCMS) has a very long and detailed explanation on why the papal office (not an individual) is considered the anti-Christ. I think believing the RC church was created by the devil is a dangerous leap - there are many God-fearing, Christ centered folks there that are our brothers and sisters in Christ. May God bless you with truth and wisdom. ~Nisa

No you are not the only one who believes that. There is a preacher on TBN thats basically said the same thing. I dont think he came right out and said the pope was the antichrist, but he did say that the antichrist would come from the catholic church. I dont like stepping on toes, but I dont believe that works will get a person to Heaven. The only way to Heaven is through Jesus Christ. I know we will be judged by our works because it says it in the Bible. I am not sure how all that will work out, but Jesus is the way. Oh and I dont believe in idol worshipping (all the statues) because that is in the commandments of God. Not to worship idols. Jesus loves you. Have A wonderful day.

Yes, I also believe that. Every description in Rev. 13 fits the Catholic Church and no other organization in the world. It also fits the descriptions in Dan 7.

You are right the papal office has identified itself as the anti-christ. The very name he gives himself is indicative of the Man of Lawlessness the Bible speaks of. He calls himself the "Vicar of Christ". Vicar means replacement.. The pope makes his own laws and misleads God's people. We should also remember that there are true believers in the Catholic Church because the Gospel is present there. Amidst all the fasle doctrine that is taught there, where the Gospel is present there will be believers also.
