I work in Illinois as an RN on an oncology unit. I have been at the same hospital for 11 years this year and have worked mostly in Oncology nursing. I love my job. It is very rewarding, but not for the lazy. Hospital nursing is very hard work and you have to love people and understand we are not all the same or have the same values. Hospital care is evolving. Patients no longer stay for a week for an outpatient surgery such as a gall bladder removal. They leave the same day. We have people come to the hospital with their bags because they think they are staying for days and it don't work that way anymore. Hospital nursing is very fast paced and the turn over is increadible I myself do oupt chemotherapy. Pt comes in and goes home in the same day.
Oops! I forgot to tell you I make $25.70 per hr.
Lovin ever minute of it!!!!
