i have bought at least 3 different types of potty seats for her, as advised other parents, but either she is scared of that, or she is more comfortable doing it in standing. She plays with her seats like other toys, but will not use that for the purpose. what to do?

I would prefer standing myself if I were afraid I would fall into a hole. If you have ever attended an 'outhouse', you might know that feeling.

You did not state her age, but my guess is, if she stands she is at the point of awareness that it needs to be dealt with differently. Her next step will be where to put it.

Please do not use force. Make it pleasant and assist her in making up her own mind.

My own daughter was about a year old when she would get out of bed, stand and do her job, then get back in bed. She had her potty seat close to the bed? Within a few months it all worked out, anyway. She just may be taking longer than you think she should.

What type of potty seat do you have? My daughter was afraid to sit on the one that attached to the seat. She did not like that her feet did not touch anything. She thought she was going to fall. I got her the one that sat on the floor and had a lid like the big potty. She felt more in control and could do it herself. When she was more comfortable going we moved to the type that attached to the seat on the big potty and had a step stool with a handle so she could climb up on her own. Also don't force the potty thing. My first daughter was almost 2 when she potty trained, but the second was over 3 yrs old. She had no desire to sit on the potty.

My best advice is to put the seat away for a short period of time. Small children have short memories and she will soon forget her association with the seat as a toy...in a few weeks reintroduce her to the seat and try again, and keep in mind there is no time frame in which a child should be trained. Your daughter may or may not be ready for that particular step...even if she is advanced in other areas.

If she's playing with it then she's not afraid of it. Quit letting her play with it. She needs to know that her potty seat is not a toy and that it is for going potty only. She is taking advantage of you.

Leave her alone for a while. Do not scare her more.
When 2 or 3 months have passed, then buy some books about potty training and read it to her and see how she reacts.

My daughter was terrified of her potty seat, I just left it out and let her play with it and sit on it clothed. When she finally decided to sit on it naked she was trained two days later, just give her time.

My son was the same way. He always wanted to play and acted scared of his potty. I just left it alone and let him tell me when he was interested in going in the toilet. Soon enough he was and I had no other troubles. I think they just have to be ready and willing. Give it time.

I had the same problem with my twins. There are seats that you can buy that sit right on top of the regular toilet they look just like a regular toilet seat. I hope this was of some help.

My daughter was kind of the same way. We bought one of the seats that goes on to the "big" toilet seat. She steps on the stool and then climbs on to the toilet. She definitely prefers to use the same toilet that mommy and daddy uses! I think it makes her feel like a big girl sitting on the big toilet.

Good Luck!

buy a small step stool for her so she can reach the big one.

You take her into the bathroom let her see you go pee first then show her the pee and how to flush. Then tell her it is her turn. those little potties are stupid.
