A diesel. Yeah the diesel prices are more, but you can drive farther on a tank of diesel.

GMC Sierra X-tended cab 4 x 4, mine is a '96 and I get great gas mileage, for me [at least 21 mpg], sure the cost of gas is at an all time high, but you have to adjust! I bought it brand new back then. I have over 176,000 miles [highway miles] on it, I plan on getting 275,000 miles or more on it, before even considering another vehicle. I take care of it, regular scheduled maintenance, and it doesn't even look 10 years old, I'm certainly not going to drive a shitbox for a car, excuse my profanity, but those small cars are a death trap. Just last week this 26 year old got run over by a semi & was killed, wrong place, wrong time, I guess. I have [6] pet parrots, & 2 big dogs so my truck is functional for me. I just love my truck!

I'd get a Ford F-250 Extended Cab! Possibly a diesel....These Trucks take a beating! Someone I know was in an accident hitting the undercarrage of an overturned 18 - wheeler in total darkness. Going regular highway speed....Lets just say it went from extended cab to regular cab...But he walked away !!! LOVE THAT TRUCK! ;) The towing is great too!

You have two options: (1) You could buy a Chevrolet Silverado 2500 with Duramax Diesel OR (2) You can wait until end of August and get the all new re-designed 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4x4 that will be getting 22mpg.

I'd take a second look at the more efficient "direct fuel injected" diesel engines. Diesel engines are well suited for work trucks. However, I'd stick with an old time diesel engine company. Both Ford and Dodge offer name brand diesel engines. What foreign car companies are making diesel trucks?

Well it all depends on what you plan to do with the truck. If you plan to use it for work I would go with a Dodge Diesel and if you planned on using it to drive back and forth to work just about any chevy dodge or ford truck with a 6 cylinder engine would do just fine

not enough info in your question.... what are you going to use it for? towing, hauling? if towing how offten, how heavy of a load????

i bought a 2006 chevy 1500 4x4 crew cab and love it. i allmost bought the 2500 with the duramax and alison trany, but couldnt justify the extra $10,000.

go drive them all and see which one you like the best. dont listen to anyone that says that ford is better than chevy, or chevy is better than ford. it all comes down to what you like.
