A man walks into a grocery store and goes to the fresh vegetables section. He stands there for several minutes looking over the lettuce bin. A clerk walks by and the man impatiently declares, "where are the half heads of lettuce?" The clerk politely says, "I guess you'll just have to get a small head of lettuce today." The man persists in his request, so the clerk says, "hold on a minute and I'll go get the manager." So the clerk walks down the aisle, not aware that the customer is right behind him. As he approaches the manager, the clerk says, "hey Bob? There's some jack-*ss out here that wants to buy a half a head of lettuce." The clerk looks behind him and sees the customer is right there. Quickly he retorts, "...and this gentleman here would like to buy the other half!"
After the manager gives his "go ahead" to the customer, he says to the clerk, "that was pretty fast thinking back there. How did you learn to do that?"
The clerk replies, "I'm from Montreal, and up there there's nothing but whores and hockey players."
The manager replies, "well, my WIFE is from Montreal!"
To which the clerk replies, "oh, yeah? What team she play on?"
