Hi!
I have bipolar for like 6 years.
I have done a lot of research and also have my own insight of manic-depression.
1.Minimal hypomanic phases can give you a higher energy.
2.Minimal hypomany can also be considered as 'normal'.
3.Not all the hypomanic cases will lead you to mania afterwards.
4.But they can also be the first signals of a worse case which is a mania.
5.Normal is always fun only if you know how to live a life better when you are normal.
6.Normal is better for the evolution of your brain. The more abnormal phases you go through , through out all your life without medication/wrong medication, the more it is damaging to your brain when considered long term untreated episodes of bipolar may lead you to dotage and memory loss in the upcoming years of your life.
7.Good luck!

my first question was why would anyone want
to be hypomanic?

It could be a rush and fun, but after comes a big downer.

I believe you can have as much fun when it you're STEADY
Learning to understand your moods, body rhythms in the long run will have a more beneficial effect.

Enjoy our life and live out your dreams, you don't need to be HYPOMANIC to do that. lol

to your question

i don't think hypomania is sometime you can just
switch on and off like that
don't take your medications, That's if they work now to keep you balanced.

Can I just ask you why you would want to do this? Are you on any meds helping to regulate your mood? Surely this has to be better than being hypomanic...

Yes there is a way. I do not recomend this if you are BPI as you may become full blown manic. For me, that is no good. I also think it would be a diservice to you to explain how. Whereas hypomania is fun, it is dangerous and destructive. Don't try to force things. Nothing good ever happens when your force things.

not that I know of. Usually without her meds my ex wife would soon go manic, but the crash was hell and pretty quick. Bi-polar people in a manic phase sure can be fun - free spending, free sex, etc etc. Just run for the hills when it goes south.

Interesting question! Treading on dangerous ground....but....

1. go off your meds.

2. get plenty of sun...and/or a full spectrum light.

3. disrupt your sleep patterns.

4. lots of coffee

5. lots of stimulation

get ready for the hospital.

Only if the medications are not correct. Being Bi-Polar myself, I know that you don't choose the up or the down of the disorder... it chooses you.
