One of my coworkers does, that socially inept bastard. He has been told many times he does it, but he does not get it. And before he eats he always says 'num num num'.

UGH, NO, I do NOT chew with my mouth open. My husband does though, and it drives me nuts. I've told him about this over and over and most of the time he remembers, but occasionally he will forget. His mom raised him and his brother and sister without much regard to manners.

No, I can't stand that. And I hate when people talk with their mouth full. One of my friends shot a piece of fish right into the food and it straight disappeared. Dude, I was heated.

No I don't, and I'm trying to teach my kids to do the same. No one wants to know what your foods looks like chewed up nor do they want to sprayed by someone's food while they talk and eat!
Yuck!

Generally I am quite quiet when in North America and most of Europe.
But in some places like Asia it’s considered an insult to the chef if you don’t make noise while you eat.
Besides – its fun to gross out people and it’s a free country.
(I think I will start picking my nose at the table too.)

yeah, but I don't "smack"
Don't be rude, it's REALLY hard for some people. I have not once eaten with my mouth closed for a whole meal. And I practice my best manners when dining.

No. Stopped doing that when threatened as a little child to be smacked, myself, by my older brothers and sisters.

No, I was taught not to do this. Smacking is a highly annoying sound to hear.
