this is a very kind and compassionate thing to do, it shows that you have a very kind hearted character. but really all that would be needed is to just shake their hand and say thank you, this in itself would be very appreciated and would never be forgotten. i would like to personally thank you for showing your compassion for our young men and women in the military services....may God Bless you and your family.

I see someone answered that they would do this the next time they saw a service member in uniform in a restaurant. My husband is active duty USMC, the Marines aren't allowed to wear their uniforms out in public. I'm talking utilities/cammies - dress uniforms are another story - where as the other branches of service can wear their utilities around town.

Yea, I agree and have thought about doing this but it is very rare indeed to see a man or woman of our military in uniform out on the town. It's hard to tell if they are civilian or not. But if I do happen to see one, I will certainly consider paying their way if I have the cash.

Just the other day I bought a solider his dinner at a steakhouse. We were leaving and they had just pulled up. We have a nice little chat he was on a gunnery crew attached to 3 ID out of Fort Sill in OK. I went back in an bought a gift card for him. It was small price to pay for feeling of really saying THANK YOU

That's a wonderful and noble thing to do, and I will join you next time I see a person in uniform in a restaurant. Thank you for the idea.

That would be a nice gesture but he/she would probably appreciate it more if you picked up the tab for his/her family's grocery bill. Do you know how many military personnel are on food stamps?

Already have. My husband and I do that as often as we can. He has become well known at our local Starbucks for always picking up the tab for anyone in Military uniform.
We all need to do our part. Thanks for spreading the word!
