I mean all they do is carry it a few feet.
I wouldn't tip if I was picking it up inside.

I haven't tipped them before. I've been told by friends that work in restaurants that offer such services it's usually one of the hostesses that bring the food out, and she's already making more than the servers per hour anyways. Besides, they're not really doing anything. Now, if it's pouring rain and the parking lot is flooded, I might give them a few bucks for letting me stay dry though! :-)

Yes, it doesn't matter how far they go to deliver the food. You're getting a doorside service. If you really don't feel you should tip then park and pick up the food at the bar where it is waiting for you.
I've seen plenty of people come in to pay at the bar and pick up their food.
I love the Tue & Thur oriental chicken salad special. Next fave are the chicken fingers and riblet platter, great honey mustard.

I've worked in a few restaurants that offer carside service, and they are servers just like in the restaurant. They are usually not experienced, so they are training to be regular servers. They don't usually make any more than regular servers either, and they rely on the tips for income. you should DEFINTELY tip them.

I've never been to an Applebee's, but if I went, I would tip a car-side attendant.

Of course, but you don't need to tip as much as you would if you were sitting in the restaurant because the person only has to package up your food and visit you once. They don't need to keep refilling water, taking additional drink or dessert orders, etc.

Carside service is a SERVICE.

10% is the standard.

Yes you should. They take the order over the phone...Put it in the computer... Package the food... And bring it to your car. You don't have to give them 20 %. But you should at least give them 10%.

Think about it: If you were a young worker, making close to minimum wage, and had to run food out to admittedly lazy people in their cars, without car or covering or appreciation? ... You'd want a tip, too.

Heck no. They are not providing table service. They're just bringing your bag out.
