I can never stay motivated to work out. when i do it i feel good but its hard to find time and if i dont get around to it for a few days i usually stop for months. I have a decent body but ive gotten lazy again lately and im starting to get out of shape. wanna nip it in the bud. I have reasons to stay in shape, i play hockey for my college and i love doing it, but even with that its hard to find motivation to lift. any suggestions/help?

Its not necessarily to lose weight but to stay strong and get stronger. I have like 5-10 pounds to lose to make a completely flat stomach but thatll go away if i steadily work out and stay in shape anyway

I dont really have a target goal or look for lifting, its just to stay fit for hockey. Also, its not a happiness thing because i really dont mind doing it. I just feel really lazy because im on co-op so im working an office job 40 hours a week until i start school again in a few months

What keeps you motivated to brush your teeth and your hair?
Nothing. And why? Because it is a habit.
Create a weight lifting HABIT, and it will become something that you do without thinking about it.
My problem in the past has been that I was more focused on the tangible RESULTS of weightlifting than I was the intangible HABITS. I'd much rather focus on the habit than on my self. Let yourself enjoy working out by making it a habit. There's enough pressure in a day, why add more too it?
Hope this helps!

Stop lifting and see how it feels - you will lose strength and energy, and your body will lose shape as a result of muscle atrophy. Also, psychologically you will lose the boost of endorphins you get from working out. Your posture will suffer, and overall it just won't be good! You are young, strong and healthy and this is the time to take care of your body. Years from now when you are very old you will wish for these years of being able to move freely and play a very physical sport like hockey.
Also - maybe you are trying to lift too much and are getting too fatigued? That would put the damper on your motivation for sure. Use good form and don't overdo it on the weights. Also, if you enjoy swimming, jump into a pool after your workout and it will elongate your body and refresh you so your muscles won't get as sore. Good luck.

My question to you is why do you feel you have to lift weights and why do you feel guilty for not exercising with them? I believe, if you're not happy doing something, you shouldn't be doing it or you're doing it wrong. Does either of these conditions fit you? Stop beating up on yourself and find something you like and want to do more than you think you should with weight lifting and body building. When you're doing what you like, things a whole lot easier.
Good luck.

R u competitive? I setup a small wager with my co-workers and set a goal date for our target weight and BMI. This has helped me get of the couch and into the gym!
Another method I used was my cholestoral level. My dad died when he was 67 of a heart attack. This has more than motivated me but since you r in college it may not effoct you Yet!
Mix up your workout. You talked about weights but try doing a different exercise each time you work out. I get bored with weights all the time. Take up a new sport for cardio training.
I think you get the picture...
Good luck!

it's not a big solution, but maybe find a foto of what your goal is to look like and put it up in your bathroom mirror. i don't know if this is a good idea for you or not (friends seeing a guys foto :P)
i have done this and it's an incentive to try to keep up with my diet and exercise.
maybe get a friend or two to work out with you?? join a gym! spending all that money would make anyone motivated to get their money's worth!!!
course my foto is of a woman, not a man :P
good luck :)

Watch never back down, that will motivate you! plus it has some good workout songs in there too. But keep mixing up your workout to keep it fresh otherwise the routine will become boring. Youtube is great for coming up with new routines plus it makes you want to go to the gym after.
