My son does not know about the Bible, but I want him to understand that there is a horrible horned supernatural beast that flays the skin off of people in a lake of fire. If he cries, I'll tell him it's this other guys idea, named God, don't blame me.

Good point, Seraph, at least the horny devil doesn't kill people. That's God's idea too.

Okay, Allie, I get it. Start with God, then when he believes it (after he learns to talk of course) I can break the bad news. Good idea!

if you explain to a 2 year old about satan than your gonna scare him to death now, and you wont have to worry about him being bad later in life because he will never come out of his room. and if you have to tell a 2 yr old about someone that "flays the skin off of people in a lake of fire" then you must know a thing or 2 about satan. sooooooo DONT DO IT

If you want your son to know about Satan then wait for a couple of years before you tell him about him. Only basic Biblical concepts like "Jesus loves the little children" and such are appropriate for a two year old. He probably can't even really comprehend fully what that means. As for who Satan is he is not the beast that you are referring to. He started out as God's most beautiful angel, with Micheal being second, however he got too "full" of himself and decided that he wanted to be God not serve him. This concept is easier to understand and is much more accurate as we can all relate to the idea of being "full" of ourselves at some point. Once he understands this concept then you have an excellent teaching tool to help him to understand the ideas of selflessness and obedience to authority figures.
Or you could just use your ideas and probably screw him up mentally. Anyway good luck to you and especially your two year old son!!!

I dont believe in a 'horned beast' or 'lake of fire' but i do believe in an evil influence that turns us away from God. I suggest instead that you teach him the importance of being good and the consequences of being bad. He probably wouldnt understand the devil as you do, but he can understand that disobeying you will have bad consequences. Hope this was helpful.

LOL - I just had to answer this question and applaud - You better give me 10 points here....

Well to answer you, you can start teaching him the Bible - where the concept of Satan comes alive. Then may be you can give him Anton La Vey's Bible when he turns 12 - the age of understanding - Then he will realize that Lightning strikes faster than you think :D

I'd say introduce him as soon as he can. You should also teach him about the Crusades and the Inquisition. Go into details. Don't hold anything back.

But if you really want to scare him read him the Old Testament. He'll be an atheist for life.

I don't think any 2 year old has the mentality yet to handle this information or even process the true meaning of what you are wanting to convey. Just be patient and wait until he is old enough to understand. The kid deserves his innocence while it is still such.

I don't think there is a need for you to introduce him to the "horned beast" at such an early age. In do time you can show him in a not so graphic way.

obviously you have a wrong understanding and it would behoove you to understand something before trying to teach it to someone else.

Satan isn't a horned beast, he doesn't eternally torture people, there is no hell and it wasn't God's idea.

There. Now you can teach your kid that Satan is an angel that opposed God and tries to lead people away from him. Misery loves company.

Start by telling him there are monsters in his closet, and under his bed. Put a television in his room, and let him watch horror movies featuring Freddie and Jason. Play ICP music for him. Take him with you when you go to your Satanic cult meetings, and let him learn by your example.
That ought to be enough to begin with.
Satan will take it from there, I'm sure.
