The Jewish leaders held an illegal trial on the sabbath probably at the "urgings" of the Romans. If they didn't, the Romans would have probably held a pogrom to kill them. The Jewish leaders didn't represented the Jewish people per se, but the belief that ALL of the Jews killed Jesus spread anyway. The Romans wanted an excuse for to kill Jesus. This whole thing is probably a story, because it's popular to use a group of people as the evil villains and so the myths continues. How sad.

The priests forced the Roman leaders to have him executed.
Before the daylight trial, there was a night time trial and Jesus was transported between Governor and King until finally Governor was forced by the 'will' of the people pushed by the priests to vote for Barabbas to be released.
Pilot washed his hands of blame, but ordered what they asked of him.

Christians killed him. More specifically Paul killed him by totally twisting what he meant. Also Constantine the Great did a good number on him because he is the one that picked and altered the 4 gospels we now see in the bible.

Wrong dear, Christ was crucified by the Romans, by request of the Sanhedrin, for the sins of all people, but He stated Himself that no man could take His life except that He allow it.
Peace of Christ,
Debra
