If you know what jcw means, you likely don't need us to answer this. That is the best choice, unless you are on the heavy side or want to have space to haul people and things. The jcw Mini Cooper is the best selfish choice here, but the BMW is the best all around car out of the ones you listed. The BMW does the most things well and performs nicely, though it may look more sedate than some of the other choices.
You would only go with the Saab 9-3 if you were quirky and wanted to be different, the Mustang if you liked American iron and a loud, in your face persona, and the Saab 9-2x if you liked the idea of a Subaru, but wanted more luxury and persona.

NEW Mustang GT
300 Horses of raw power at almost half the cost of the BMW. The service on a BMW will cost an arm and a leg. The resale value on the 2005/2006/2007 Mustang GT is astronomical.
If you can afford it, go for the 500hpw 2007 Shelby GT500 Mustang. Only two vehicles will be allocated to a dealership for 2007 and some dealers will not get one. You'll pay about $20,000 over sticker. But it's well worth the cake!

I would go with the mini or the BMW. Saab just doesn't have as good of a reputation. BMW will hold up like a charm with routine care. Just make sure you have the $$ for the upkeep and the parts. I think an oil filter is like $35.

Out of these I'd go for the Mini. Good value, good resale, sporty, and dependable. The Saabs are now GM and have poor resale and mediocre dependability. The Mustang is a powerful rental car with lousy fit-and-finish, noisy, has rattles, and are so boring. The BMW coupe is an excellent car, but has high out-of-pocket expenses and mediocre resale values.

Mini's hold their value extremely well, one of the best. The Saabs are probably more reliable. If you are not going to keep it too long, the BMW has a lot of bling however you don't want to own one after the warranty runs out.

Mini Cooper if you live either or and want to save on gas.
