God didn't tell him this like a dictator. Jesus, being part of God, made the decision to sacrifice himself for us, so that we would understand the truth about God.

One, hhis soul purpose wan't to die, look at all his teachings have done to improve the world. For the sake of arguement, we'll call the bad things done in the name of Christianity misinterpretations. But at the same time, according to the movie Dogma, Jesus was 12. That's why there is the huge gap of time in the Bible between Jesus's adulthodd and his childhood. because he had a nervous breakdown. I know Dogma isn't based on any facts, but I thought that was kind of interesting anyway.

yah, he didn't get the punchline until he went out and had some paote and saw the devil, then god said, oh by the way, you are going to die a terrible death now, and I will be turning my back on you at the point when you probably need me the most, but it's cool. So somehow the people will know that I let you be killed for nothing and believe in me and love me for being a terrible father. Makes perfect sense, right? right? Jesus?! get back here!

I don't think He was actually "told", but He already knew His time here was short and that He had to sacrifice his life for all Humankind.
I am sure that He was troubled by this knowledge and even fought it at the end, as He was part human, who wouldn't fight for their life? Imagine how much that must of hurt, to know that you would be sacrificed after living a short time? I am ever grateful that Christ did this for us, as we have a shot of living forever in a beautiful place, so wondrous it boggles the mind to picture how Heaven will be for the faithful.
God Bless and Peace to all souls!

I think it is not a matter of how old. The true knowledge in this is that until you discover your purpose, your life is not fulfilled. God created every one specifically for a purpose. You are not living but merely existing until you discover your purpose and pursue it. Jesus discovered his purpose and completed the task, that is why he could said, 'it is finished'. Have you discover the purpose why you are created?

I believe that he basically grew up knowing that he was the son of God and knew what his destiny would be. Below is a link that might give you a bit of light on the subject if you're really interested. It's in Adobe Acrobat form.

I know Jesus died when he was 33. I am not sure exactly what age he was when told he was to die, but I think he was 12 when he first preached, I am so ashamed that I don't even know his story, I am a catholic....
