The primary differences between Baptists and Methodists are not their differences in Baptism, or whether one dances or drinks. The real differences are in theology.
Baptists trace their roots generally from Anabaptists, who avoided the Roman church in its early times. The Baptists believe in adult (immersion) baptism, whereas the Methodists follow their Anglican roots and baptize infants.
The theological differences generally are that Methodists come from an Arminian background which believes in the free will of the believer and that believers can fall away from their salvation. Baptists believe that once a person is saved, they are eternally secure.
There are many other differences, and some churches from each may cross over into beliefs by the other. Generally, Methodist churches tend to be more liberal in their theology, and Baptists are more conservative. That is not always the case, though.

No no no no no. I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt: Baptists and Methodists are NOT the same. I am a Methodist, and I have many friends who are Baptist, and we have had this discussion many times. Yes, both denominations are Christian and both teach from the Bible, but the interpretations and methods are VASTLY different. That's like saying Catholics and Pentecostals are the same... yikes.

Baptists don't dance, Methodists don't drink.
Actually its all tied up with British politics in the eighteenth century. I'm sure you are SOOOOO interested. Basically Baptists believed that all it takes to ba a good Christian is lots of praying and devotion to God while Methodists believed you had to be nice to the poor and needy as well.
Since then the distinctions have blurred a lot.

Baptists have a tendency to believe the Bible. United Methodists have a tendency to disclaim or allegorize a lot of Scripture, that's why they have lengthy gone professional-sodomy. The Church of Christ believes try to be baptized to be kept as against the Bible's education that salvation is with the help of religion on my own. The United Church of Christ is liberal like the United Methodist denomination.

Baptist believe in total submersion when being baptised. baptism is the out sign done by believers after they have given their heart to Jesus. It is through God grace that you are save not be any works you perform. Methodist sprinkle babies and dedicate them to the church. This is the main difference between the two denominations. Both believe Jesus is God Son and he died on the cross for our sins.

I've noticed a difference in the way the services are "performed". Other than that, if they believe/preach the same doctorine, I do not see any difference. Many churches preach from the same book - that does not mean that they interpret the scriptures the same. Be careful of false prophets.

All Christian denominations teach from the same book - The Holy Bible. Each does have some differences, though. You can find out those differences through a religious history search - or by taking a religion college course.
