Fundies on the loose again! How we love these religious creatures!

How do you stop it? Reading this blurb I dont think you can.

The Message is aimed at the world's 1.4 billion Muslims, many of whom have been engaged in a civil war of ideas for the last three centuries, the period of Muslim political decline. The successive fall of mighty Muslim empires, such as the Moghuls in India and eventually the Ottomans in the Middle East, led Muslims to inquire into the causes of their downfall. Instead of recognizing scientific and intellectual stagnation as the reason for their lack of material progress, many early Muslim revivalists attributed Muslim debility to a combination of Western conspiracies and Muslim neglect of military preparedness.

Muslim reformers since the 19th century, on the other hand, have argued that Muslims need to look at their own history critically to understand their collective weakness. Reform movements in the Islamic world have maintained that Muslims have something to learn from the ascendancy of the West, beginning with the European Renaissance and Reformation.

Contemporary jihadists have rejected this approach. They see themselves as reversing Muslim decay by reviving religious militancy. They play on the many post-colonial grievances of Muslims and are aware of the Muslim desire for restoring their past glory. This approach is precisely why, in an era of terrorism in the name of Islam, the battle for Muslim hearts and minds is the key to success in the war against terrorism.

When people and nations live in darkness, they lose sense of direction. In an information age, knowledge–driven global culture of reason, ignorance is no longer a requisite to learn from the living history. The previous Empires knew their geography and limits, but the newly articulated American Empire in its infancy, is challenging to the limits of the Laws of God and appears obsessed with “fear” of being replaced by the new emerging nations of Asia and South America. Bush invoked the “War on Islam”, as a dictum of power, not reason and wisdom, to camouflage the prospective future with acts of barbarity and to dispel the notion of accountability in global affairs. Historically, people and nations pursuing this path of behavior have ended up in self-defeat and self-destruction.

The 9/11 attacks and religious doctrines have no common ground. Hourly paid intellectuals turned guardian of approved truth, allege that Islam breeds terrorism. The Western mass media complements the scientifically discovered notion to poison the public perceptions and source of judgments against the Arabs and Muslims. The Neo-Conservatives helped to rob the humanity of its human heritage. The perception of ‘radical Islam’ was invented and enhanced by the ‘fear’ of terrorism and as a precursor to attack Muslims.

But, be under no illusion, Muslims do answer back with the language Bushites understand. Tune in to the right channels and, watch with awe and wonder.

I'm from India. Although I was not affected by these attacks I have full sympathy for the victims of these cowardly attacks. I don't know whether I should start blaming muslims. Many muslims were killed and injured in this attack. Many muslims over here are ready to donate blood for the victims. I hope all Hindus and muslims in India would stand united against this form of fundamentalism. I hope muslims would understand that religious fundamentalism will affect them too. Mumbaikars(Citizens of Bombay/Mumbai) are back to work already. Go Mumbai!!!

I don't know if we can blame Muslims for these attacks. Many Muslims were on the trains and were injured, and more are trying to help the victims in any way possible. These attacks were horrible, but I think that the best way to beat them is to move on, and try to get on with life as normally as possible, to prove to terrorists that we will not be deterred by there cowardly crimes.
