In some ways, yes.

The opportunity for interpersonal communication is phenomenal. The monopoly on "news" has been greatly reduced. The ability for any individual to communicate to a widespread audience is marvelous. Access to general information is unprecedented.

However, like all things there is a down side. Instead of socializing by getting together and doing things we spend more time alone with our keyboards. Also, in the past public discourse as well as personal communications were distributed on a more permanent medium. This allows historians to dig through the paper trail to gain insight into past cultural ideals. Because all of that info now only exists as bits on a server somewhere it will simply evaporate into the great bit bucket unless someone dutifully archives it and translates it into the next format dejour each time technology changes.

I love the Internet, practically lived on it for years, but at the same time I believe that the media and ease of communication has significantly contributed to the degradation of the morals of society as a whole. Therefore, the Internet is not a good thing.

Yes, the internet has opened up a whole new world of knowledge to people, a limitless supply of communication, and fun for those who use it. I can talk to people in a foreign land, know the news immediately, and keep myself occupied for hours without boredom. I think it's a good thing, as long as it's not abused, or used inappropriately.

Depending on how you use it, yes. I think it connects people who would not otherwise connect. Gives you information that you would have had to drive out for, and generally gives a new medium of communication. The porn, gambling and vices it promotes are bad, but I have found that any invention can be used for either good or bad.

Yes - If used for the right purposes. It can also become a problem - be used improperly - just like anything. All things in moderation.

yes because its a fast and easy way to do research for school, email you friends... then no because there are alot of child preadotors on the lose... and many ppl get killed from meeting them online
