I have really bad acne and I was watching tv one day when all of a sudden something for a acne cream came up. It was called Differin. I don't know if it really works. So Does Differin or Proavctive work better for acne?

I used Differin for several years and it only made the swelling go down a little. Proactiv is making me look like I did before I had acne.

I had severe acne as well and I literally tried EVERYTHING for it. Proactive NEVER helped me and only made matters worse. I used differin as well and that really didn't help at all. I was on an antibiotic called Dinocin and that REALLY helped, but with antibiotics you have to stop taking them after so long or you'll develop immunity.

Finally, I focused on my diet. I stopped eating sugars (substituted splenda as much as I could stand) and tried desperately to stay away from starches and fats. I'm currently taking a vitamin regimen and drinking plenty of water and it has truly worked wonders! If your acne isn't hormonal based, it's probably from your diet or from stress. Look into vitamins.

If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.

Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:

I used differin at one time and hated it. I didnt work very fast, and I felt like it was not working at all to be honest. My doc even put me on accutane, that just made me sick. I have been using proactive for almost 3 years now, the results are amazing, and believe me.... it is the ONLY beauty product that I swear by and will not go with out. besides deoderant of course!

While it took little less than two months for me to really see a difference, my acne, blackheads and whole lot of other skin problems I had such as eczema had completely cleared! It was totally amazing...
