Obviously humans invented religion. Look at all the different religions in the world and all the different religions in the history of the world. They were all created by man. There is no other explanation.

Humans didn't invent religion - religion was at first "Idol Worship" to "Gods" - see Sumerian Cultures. These gods ruled over the world and demanded offerings and obedience. Sumerians would have you believe that humans were created by gods as a slave race. A cross breed species of an existing sapien that had already evolved on this planet (Neanderthal) and the gods them selves = here we are. Religion evolved over time as a control method to supress people into following a certain ruler appointed by the gods or even a specific god. Religion branched out into varius factions as the gods and their appointed rulers fought over control of our planet. Eventually religion became distored into current forms of theology and today has the majority of our species under its spell. (Godspell) The ultimate control method designed to supress and mandate obedience is still alive and well after some 6000 years. Brilliant!

People invented religion to better explain the world around them, and to give hope that there is something after death. It's a way to make us feel better about living in an imperfect world where everything has to end sooner or later.

Before religion, came questions into the hearts of our ancestors that contributed to the formation of religious philosophies which ultimately gave way to religions. The questions came into the minds of the ancient thinkers from an inner urge buried very deep in our being, an urge which is half-understood and half-felt driving the seekers from one truth to another higher truth till they find their real nature as conciousness only. Human beings were born, are being born and will be born with this intrinsic urge for going beyond the mundane to find out their real nature and in the process the unfoldment of conciousness begins till everything is one and till one finds unity in diversity. Religion is only the beginning.

In my opinion, Religion was devised as a distraction. When people focus on a certain thing they will become unaware of other happenings about them. Other distractions include: TV, News, We are living in New Times Roman and history shows this. Wake up people, we are the destroyers

Because God left us with a hole in our heart where He used to be. We invented religion to try on our own to get to Him. But He wanted to come down to us, and He did, in the person of Jesus Christ. That's why Christianity is not a religion, because it goes in the opposite direction.

Humans invented religion so that they could better justify their lives by allegorizing the parts of God's Word they felt didn't apply to them because they'd never sinned in that manner before. But since the Bible says we're all born to sin, we were incapable of allegorizing or covering our sins adequately. No one seems to stop and think about the significance of Adam and Eve's attempt to cover their own sin with the clothing they made of fig leaves. It was man's first act of religion, justifying their remorse and shame of nakedness and disobediance by their own works! God made the clothing from goat skins for them to make them realize that the only adequate covering there would ever be for sin was blood sacrifice. Therefore, as man grew and progressed in knowledge, he increased in sin and shame as well because he has continually chose throughout the centuries to justify himself instead of being obedient to God's will.

Humans didn't invent religion. God revealed Himself to us. So if you were to rephrase the question, "Why, in your opinion, did God reveal himself to humans?" I would give you this answer: To answer our questions. Once Adam and Eve ate from the Tree of Knowledge, they realized things they never notcied before. I believe one of those things was the world around us. We started having questions about how things came to be and God realized that the only way He could help us was to reveal Himself to us through his son, Jesus Christ.
