I'd never advise buying a Brand new car, they depreciate once you get off of the lot by a few thousand, which isn't a great idea for today's average middle class family. I'd search ebay and other car lots online to find a gentley used or almost new vehicle of the style I like and bring a professional to the test drive with me, and suggest a proper price suitable for both parties.

The closer we get to September the lower the prices go.
The 2007 cars will be on the dealers lots in September and the 2006 models have to go.

October to December are the best deals. Occasionally a dealer will have stock in to the new year. But watch out, they may not offer as good a deal on financing as they do on newer stock due to the decrease in price.Remember shop around, always negotiate, even if they say its the bottom line.Always try for more.
Good luck.

September through February period for new car stores because the new models come out during that time and they try to literally get rid of the last year models as soon and as much as possible.

Its good to have your money for the purpose then wait for the opportunity you might be surprised youself what good deal you could get. some people are tired of the car they are using not because it is no longer good but because they have some money to add to buy another car and some are intending to travel, some need to make some unforeseen payment. i bet they would take much much lesser than you expect.the trick is having your money handy// goodluck
