You are assuming that Jesus was just a regular person, but he wasn't: He was the son of God, sent by God to the earth to save the world.
Jesus' sacrifice was the ultimate sacrifice because Jesus was a divine being. Gods--nowhere, in any religion--do not die.
Jesus' sacrifice was more special than any humans' sacrifice because this was a case of God giving up his own life so that we may live.
Moreover, Jesus did not sin, ever. Therefore, he deserved no punishment.
I wouldn't really call Jesus "famous," anymore than I would call God "famous." That seems to be the wrong word choice entirely. Jesus wasn't looking for fame or for any earthly treasure at all.
The whole point is that God did not have to come to earth, but he did. God did not have to give up his life so that we may live, but he did. God did not have to endure taunting, scourging, humiliation, hatred, and crucifixion from creatures who were unworthy and who were sinners, but he did.
A firefighter can be considered altruistic, selfless, and a hero. (Even though he or she may be getting PAID to do that job.) But a firefighter cannot be considered sinless. And a firefighter's sacrifice can in no way pretend to save any more people than the ones he or she carries from the fire. By saving Bob on Elm Street, the firefighter cannot pretend to have saved all of humankind from all manner of death and sin.
So, no. No one has sacrificed more than Jesus. Others may consent to die on a cross for all of humanity, but they do not have the power to save all of humanity, and so their dying on the cross for that reason would not only be senseless but would be an act of pride--pride, because they would be deluded that their death would save humankind for eternity. Jesus was not acting out of pride. He was acting out of mercy and sacrifice. His death actually did save the world, whereas if I were to die on the cross, I would be saving nothing. I would just be dying on a cross.

Yes people would die on a cross for others. However, the importance of Jesus dying on the cross for us is the fact that he is without sin. Since everyone other than Jesus has sinned, we can not die for the sins of others. Since the wages of sin is death, if we sin once, we are destined to die. Since Jesus was a man to be without sin, he can die on the cross for us. It's not like Jesus is trading his life for one. He is trading his life for the possibility of everyone. Personally I think his sacrifice is greater than anything we can do. Since Jesus didn't deserve death by dying for us he takes our sin.

The death that Jesus faced on the cross is not an ordinary one as we try to understand it. Everybody who dies and sacrifice himself or otherwise die for themself and thats it. Jesus died the eternal death for the whole world - he had to bear the wait of the full penalty of sin for every single sinner that lived and would live.
If we understood this enough we wouldn't even die to save ourselves.

Jesus died on the Cross for all of us. He paid the price for our sins. Based on this we can have eternal life if we accept Him as our personal Lord and savior as well as turn from our sins.

Jesus is God and sinless. For a God to not to use his power and get out of it(cause you know he could have) is more powerful then any sinful person dieing for another. If you were the only one on earth he would have died for just you, that makes it special. Plus he is the only one that could die for our sins because he was sinless.

Very Interesting way of thinking !
Coming to think of it - Many others died because they were betrayed by their closest friend, spouse, etc. and not the luxury of hanging in a cross - but by having spears up their A$$es, being cut piece by piece... Hmmm.. Whom did they die for ?
I still stand on that Jesus was not killed, he was punished, he did not die on the cross - after his punishment period ended after 3 days, he lived for many more years and died of natural causes - speculate to be in India or China.

Jesus took on the sins of the entire world.
Past, present, and future.
No one else could do that - even if they wanted to.
Do you realize that He would have done it even if He knew only one person in all the history of mankind would be saved?

Jesus could have LIVED FOREVER! He was God... but he chose to die.
Not only that but only a perfect person can save an imperfect person.

but have they given up heaven to come to earth and die for humanity?? has anyone else died and have raised from the dead and given us the promise of salvation and the hope of eternal life??
And that is why Him the Son of God deserves ALL the PRAISE and GLORY.
