Water is great for the body for a number of reasons. But drinking a crazy amount can put you in jeopardy of developing hyponatremia, a condition marked by a loss in the body's sodium content that can result in physical symptoms such as lethargy, disorientation, seizures and even heart attack..

Water is good for you because it hydrates you and removes toxins from your system. It doesn't have any nutritional value, only a few trace minerals. It is not a food supplement, and if you drink too much of it it will not only remove toxins, but flush out your electrolytes as well. Too much of anything can kill you, there was actually a case I read about a few years ago where a family went to see a Child Psycologist who told them that if their 5 year old daughter was caught doing something without permission or not allowed to do, to make her do it in excess as a punishment. You know, steal a cookie, make her eat them all. This girl got a glass of water without permisson and they made her drink so much water that her brain began to swell and she died. True story. But, for you it isn't good if you are talking about a water only diet. You'll be malnourished.

water is good for you thats true, however too much water and you can actually drown your system with it. my mother in law did that and it put her in the hospital for over a week trying to get the excess water from her system. It wasnt pretty seeing her swollen and bloated from it.
Her doctor told her she needed more water so she did, but over did by a lot!
Dieting by water alone will starve your system of nutrients it needs to survive. Once you loose the weight desired, you will gain it back and some gain more than lost. If you dont put food in your diet then your body will go into a starvation mode and store the hard to loose fats to keep it going when there is no food in it.
Too much can be a bad thing, so take into consideration the fact that you will feel full, but there is nothing nutritious in water to allow your body what it needs. it can also cause damage to the kidneys that can not be repaired.
Good luck.....

Water is very good for you but as they too much of a good thing can be a bad thing. Water will dilute the natural salts and minerals in the body which can lead to cramping after a strenuous day. It is better to drink half to quarter strength Gatorade. This has the mineral content your body needs, but cuts way down on the sugar.
There also is a mental condition whereby the person cannot quit drinking water and eventually, if left to their own devices, literally drown in their own bodies fluids. It is quite rare and I can't, for the life of me, remember the name of it.
So yes, too much water can be a bad thing at times.

Yes and No.....look it up. It is quite interesting. If you drink gallons of water a day and your pee ends up looking like water that is somewhat not good because you are flushing all of your good minerals and vitamins out of your system. My fluids consist of 80% water a day. But I also drink fresh squeezed juices and lots of green tea, hot and cold.
A few months ago, I believe in California, a Fraternity initiation was to drink as many Alhambra bottles as they could. You know the 5 gallon bottles?? One of the boys died from all the water he drank. It caused some sort of toxic shock. Basically he drowned his insides. Weird Huh??? But its true.
Try www.webmd.com. This is a pretty good website.

Ingesting only water and no food? You will starve to death!!!
Also, as some have said, you can die from "water poisoning".
Fraternity pledge died of water poisoning
Forced drinking can disastrously dilute blood's salt content.
In medicine, water intoxication (also known as hyperhydration or water poisoning) is a potentially fatal disturbance in brain function that results when the normal balance of electrolytes in the body is pushed outside of safe limits by a very rapid intake of water.

It is possible to get sick from drinking to much water, it can throw off the balance of electrolites in your body. But in order to achieve that you would need to drink GALLONS a day. It is no easy feat. You shouldnt worry about getting sick from drinking to much water, what you need to worry about it eating. From the way you phrased your question is sounds like you are consuming no food throughout the day and drinking only water. That is VERY dangerous. Your body needs food (engery) to run on and starving it will cause permenent damage and can even kill you.

you can drink too much water, if you constantly drink water your body adjust to it and if you stop your body will have a problem with retaining water(water weight will stick). It can also cause foods protein to pass to quickly and your body loses needed nutrients. But be sure to drink 6-8 glasses and more if your out in the heat.

ABSOLUTELY! it will flush out all your natural body salts which will cause an electrolyte imbalance which is VERY dangerous! The recommended 'dosage' is drink half your body weight in ounces -- so if you weigh 120 lbs, drink 60 ounces of water a day in full glasses at a time spaced out.

For most people the answer is no because most of us don't drink enough water, but too much water can kill you. A couple of years ago they was a report about a guy who died from drinking too much water. They call it water intoxication. Check out the links below.
