No denomination or religion can reconcile you with God the Father. ONLY Jesus can do that. Do you know Jesus as your personal savior? (Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. )

Following Jesus is a relationship not a religion. However, true followers can be found in any denominational church organization. Just do not get caught up in the "organizations" doctrines. Let the Holy Spirit guide you into wisdom. Trust in the Lord only and you do not have to worry.

You can do it!! Don't turn away from Christ. Maybe you should change churches, but then again, maybe not. (is that your problem?) Remember, even if someone attends to church at is very "religioney", that doesn't mean that they are really a Christian. (they may think they are, but...)

Trust me, I know that it is NOT one great big lie. I was raised as a Catholic and realized last summer, "I may go to church, I may do the "right things", but I'm not really a Christian." So I gave Jesus everything... my life, my heart, everything.

But that doesn't mean that my faith is perfect. It's NOT. I go through desert times also, where it feels like God is far away. He's really not. Stick to Him. Remember, He wants to help you. But you have to reach up and grab His hand.

And seriously, try reading the Bible, it has strengthened my faith a lot. Just start with five minutes a day, if you want. My suggestion is to start in the book of John. (NOTE: Get an easy-to-read translation. I'm reading one called The Message//Remix. It's sooo cool and easy to read. It even looks awesome!)

Only you can choose your faith...I suggest you start studying other religions if you're not happy being a presb. Don't say it was a lie because than you'd be discounting your heritage and you don't want to do that. Explore, learn and determine where your FAITH lies and how YOU want to BELIVE than go from there! GO TO WWW.UUA.ORG during your exploratioin...I think you may/might find it interesting! PEACE!

What I have noticed amongst a lot of people who leave or join churches is that they allow what other people do dictate what they believe and do not believe. I am guessing you are begining to believe that it was one big lie because of what you have seen or heard going on in the church or the churches. You have to know God for yourself you cannot allow anyone's words or actions to dictate your belief or unbelief. It seems to me that the people that do not know God are the ones that have the most to say about Him. Seek His face on your own, pray and believe for an answer, I guarantee that when you yourself know God for youself you will understand, believe and know that He is not a lie. People lie cheat steal decieve ect.. God does not do these things nor is He the author of them. God is not a man, that he should lie Num 23:19. I am sorry for whatever you have experienced and the confusion it has caused though it does not have to remain "Seek the Lord while He may be found, call on Him while He is near Isa55:6. I encourage you to call on Him let Him know your confusion and feelings. Ask Him to reveal Himself, do these things in a sincere and right heart and He will not make Himself a liar, He will answer you.

You need to look into the scriptures yourself. We sometimes get turned one way or another with doctrinal beliefs. Christ has a simple plan for salvation. Not confusing at all---"No one comes to the Father except through me" is what He said. Pretty simple. John writes "For God so loved the world that HE SENT HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON", can you get any more simple than that? Read for yourself. Keep an open mind. Find a translation of the scriptures that is written to help you understand what you are reading. King James version is probably the most difficult of English translations. May I suggest the New International Version. It has a couple of strange passages but mostly easy to read and understand. Hope you find the TRUTH of Christ's simple doctrine. He loves ya! And He wants to see you on that final day---standing with HIS KIDS!

A lot of Denominations teach the wrongs things. They add things into religion that's not in the Bible. They want that power over you. I had to leave the Methodist Church because of that. I currently go to a non-denominational church where we learn about the Bible and only the Bible. That's all you need. I different prespective. Try changing churches but the main thing, PRAY! God will lead you in the direction that you need to head. I hope everything works out for you. Just keep your faith in God.

You're well on your way to discovering the truth yourself. It is one big lie. Read this:

I am the same. Raised Roman Catholic, but lost faith after realizing that religion as taught by the Christian church is a lie, is based on fabricated stories and a book written hundreds of years after the supposed author's lives...

You need to think deep about your life and your world and decide if you truely feel this religous calling inside or do you feel like you have to belive in yourself and your instincts. I chose myself, I was raised Lutheran. Now, I consider myself "agnostic" not athiest. I believe there is something out there, but I do not believe that any book or religon actually contains the answers to the universe.

I don't mean to knock the Presbyterian church, but they tend to pick and choose what they believe. I suggest that you pray and ask for God's guidance. Read the Bible. Turn from your sins and ask Jesus Christ to be your personal Lord and Savior. Go to a Evangelical Free Church.

All organised religion is one big lie. Just look at the minister with his big fancy Rolex and his high dollar Cadillac. Did you think he paid for all that on his day-job? Or might your tithing have gone into it?
