I'm a State Tested Nursing Assistant, a Pharmacy Technician, and a radiographer, and a paralegal. The paralegal pays the most -- but the nursing assistant is the most rewarding.
Guess which I do?
(I'll tell you that I make $9.29 an hour working in the USA).

Why don't you want to be a nurse? In the UK (sorry, I don't know where you are) there are plenty of other professions you can choose to be. There aren't less than nursing though but you do have to study for them. There are also Care Assistants, you don't need a degree to do this but you can get certificates in the area.

State Tested Nurse's Assistant (STNA)
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
Those are both below Registered Nurse (RN) and require schooling.
