Nope, but make sure the manner by which you answer isn't rude either. No profanities, insults and the like... to the best of your abilities:p

No, it's never wrong to be brutally honest. When I ask a question on here, I would appreciate all types of honest answers, even the brutally honest ones.

People who can't appreciate brutally honest answers, probably shouldn't be asking questions or for advice, shouldn't be on here and aren't really interested in wanting to help or inform themselves anyways.

No, not wrong at all! That is why it is here, to give people honest, straight forward answers to questions people they know would be afraid to answer. We do people justice by letting them know the honest truth, even if it is brutal.

Sometimes. Some questioners have such bad ideas, it's necessary to set them straight, or at least give them your opinion, in no uncertain terms. There are many ways to respond to the answerer's harsh "truth" and I think everyone but the most stubborn or emotionally unstable will take the criticism or blunt answer for what it's worth. I don't think it's necessary to be vulgar or obscene, however.

No, I think it's awesome. There is a difference between being brutally honest and downright mean. Yes, it is rude to be mean, but honest...nope, not a problem.

As long as you are not discriminating against anyone being brutally honest is wonderful .

I think that it is more respectful to the person to be honest with them (lying is just treating them poorly, and I'm not one of those "what they don't know won't hurt them" types). You can be honest with others, but also use a bit of taste, tact and consideration for their feelings! I think it takes a bigger person with a bit more emotional intelligence to pull this off than someone who just blurts something out crudely, all the while patting themselves on the back for being "honest", but forgetting to add the word "obnoxious" to their self-congratulatory kudos!

Sadly, many people who ask questions get offended by brutal honesty -- they want answers which validate what they already think or want to think. If the truth hurts, don't go asking for it...

nope. why give an answer that's only telling the asker what they want to hear? That's not going to help them out any. Plus, if they didn't want an honest answer, they shouldn't have asked the question.

no if they didn't want a brutally honest answer they shouldn't have asked it.
