For every bite she gets squeezed.

smacking her doesn't work. I think it actually makes her want to give me a stronger bite. My fingers and hands have bite marks with dried blood...8*(

I let her bite me without going OW or moving her away from me and now I'm bleeding...bad recommendation.

I had this problem... after my bird was tame he started this and other very aggressive behavior.

I learned that he was going through puberty.

I used to let him have free roam of the house ... now he is in his cage most of the time. I take him out several times a day.

I took all fake birds and mirrors away. He was falling in love with those "other birds" and getting very territorial with them.

Now he is a very sweet bird and his kisses no longer turn into bloody lips.

When she bites you, put her back in her cage and cover it for a little while. Eventually she will learn that biting leads to loss of freedom.

Hope this helps.

For heaven's sake, don't squeeze her!! It's just making her more pissed off which equals more biting.

If you don't flinch or pull away, she'll learn that her biting is ineffective at keeping you away. (I know this is hard to do, but you'll get used to it). You also have some serious trust-building to do with her, since you've been squeezing her.

Start slow.. try putting your hand in the cage when she's there and just leaving it. Don't get too close or try to touch her. After several days of this, try putting your hand closer to her. Get her to step up on your finger within the cage, very close to her perch. Just work slowly and be patient.

She may also be biting because she's curious of what she's sitting on. Budgies don't have hands, so they often explore with their tounges and beaks.

NEVER EVER HIT OR SQUEEZE YOUR BIRD

that is horrible and wrong that will only make things worse.

birds are very sensitive, they need to know that they can trust you before you can be friends with them.

You're going to have to start over with your bird.

Its not impossible to get her to trust you but it will be hard and take a lot of work, patience, and love to achieve this.

1. read a book out loud to your bird for 15 minutes a day for a week.

this will help your bird get used to your voice and understand your not a threat.

2. for another week offer your bird its favorite food through the cage bars.

this will help your bird see you as a source of food and consider you a friend. When your bird takes the food tell her she's a good bird, and mention how pretty she is.

3. for another week open the cage and offer her food directly, your bird may be panicky at first but she will eventually settle down with it.

4. This step is a little tricky but in the end is well worth the effort.

with no food stick your hand in your birds cage, and gswiftly press your finger up to her chest and say UP or STEP UP. She may try to bite you at first and if she does just say NO or NO BITING in a calm serious voice, NEVER EVER HIT OR SQUEEZE YOUR BIRD. When she gets used to this gradually slow dowm putting your finger up to her and she will step up for the joy of being helped.

If your bird does bite just say no in a calm serious voice.

introduce your bird to being pet and just let her sit down and watch tv with you.

She will learn that biting is no use after a while if you don't pull away or say "ow!" or something. She's just trying to protect herself, because you keep on smacking and squeezing her, and she thinks you're going to smack and squeeze her again. She doesn't understand that her biting is what caused you to smack and squeeze her in the first place.

If she enjoys being out of her cage put her back in it when she bites. Or if she doesn't like water spray her.
