You're asking a public group like this for medical advice? You need to ask a doctor.

Anxiety is a normal reaction to stress. Anxiety can be accompanied by physical effects such as heart palpitations, nausea, chest pain, fidgeting, shortness of breath, stomach aches, or headache. Physically, the body prepares the organism to deal with a threat. Blood pressure and heart rate are increased, sweating is increased, bloodflow to the major muscle groups is increased, and immune and digestive system functions are inhibited (the fight or flight response). External signs of anxiety may include pale skin, sweating, trembling, and pupillary dilation. Someone suffering from anxiety might also experience as a sense of dread or panic. If you have depression, you may feel hopeless and sad or stop feeling pleasure from almost everything you do. You may feel down in the dumps, tearful, or discouraged. You may also be irritable or anxious or have low energy levels. The symptoms of depression are often subtle at first. It can be hard to recognize that symptoms may be connected and that you might have depression. The two most significant symptoms of depression are: Sadness or hopelessness. Loss of interest in or pleasure from most daily activities. Other symptoms include: Losing or gaining weight because of changes in appetite. Sleeping too much or not enough. Feeling restless and unable to sit still, or feeling that moving takes a great effort. Feeling tired all the time. Feeling unworthy or guilty without an obvious reason. Having problems concentrating, remembering, or making decisions. Thinking often about death or suicide.

Anxiety is classified as to be anxious for something to happen or to do. Depression is classified as the result of something not done to our fashion of living or thinking. Some professionals don't think there is a difference, but there is a difference.

Untreated anxiety can lead to untreated depression and they can often encircle each other as well.

If there is something that troubles you in your life and you are unable to do anything about it, then you should seek advice from your family physican. He or she will recommend you to see a psychologist or counselor and maybe a psychiatrist. With the proper medication and therapy, you can learn how to function again.

Good luck to you and I hope you feel better soon!

This is a pretty complex answer. To put it in the simplest terms, I would say that depression is when you lose interest in things you enjoy, have a general "down" feeling that lasts extended periods of time.
Anxiety is when you are constantly keyed up and freaked out about things that logically, you know you don't have to worry about.
I'm not a doctor or anything but this is the easiest way I can explain it.

I think depression is an overwhelming feeling of sadness that lasts more than several hours. Anxiety is more of an inability to think or move due to fear. It is my belief that when either interferes with your life, medical assistance is required. Today, there is no need to be depressed or anxious.

ChooseReality has your best answer. If you are feelin' "down" and and full of fear, my friend, please do seek out a professional. After years of suffering, self-medicating with alcohol, bad relationships, etc., I came damn near the brink. There is help! Don't suffer needlessly. I have bouts with the "blues" once and a while but nothing as debilitating as in the past; I think I was curred. I will hold you in my heart with hope.
