the world "lost" can have many connatations. It doesn't always mean that you can't find something. Like when you "lose" someone, or people say, "Sorry for your loss" when someone dies, it doesn't mean you don't know where they are, it just means that they are no longer with you. When you lose your virginity, you'll never have it again, just in the same way.

There is something that happens physically to you once you have had sex for the first time. You break your hymen, and you bleed because of it. Some girls bleed alot, while others don't even realize it's happened. That's how you would "technically" lose your virginity.

You lose virginity by having your first sexual experience.. that is why parents .... as it concerns their young daughters.. protect them so that they can keep their virginity until marriage.. which is a rare thing in these days.

It's just a phrase that means you have had sexual intercourse and are no longer a virgin. It doensn't literally mean you lost it somewhere and you have to find it.
