Many a well educated non-Christian has read the Bible yet only Christians know how to interpret it properly.

Even the poorly educated Christians can interpret the Bible better than a well educated non-Christian.

Is this one of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit?

Good grief...most Christians don't have a clue how to understand the Bible! The Bible is designed to teach God's Will...but most folks use it to validate their own selfish desires!

How many Christians use it as a weapon to legitimize their hate for other people...Christians or others?

Heck...half of the Bible was written by Jews....do THEY not understand it?

What about all of the Christians (Peter, Mary, etc.) who practiced the Faith even before the thing was compiled? Were they retarded?

Good God...take me now...! (Either direction!)

Yes, you have hit the proverbial nail right on the head. Discernment is a gift of the Holy Spirit. So is knowledge. But as you read the bible you will begin to understand more and God will reveal parts to you as you need them. I have read passages many times and one day I will be reading it again and something jumps out that I never realized before. The bible can seem like a complicated book with it's parables and symbolisms, but God is not the author of confusion. (1 Cor.14:33 KJV) Better be careful though. If you read it too much you might not be a non-christian for long. Keep reading, but not to study it right away, just read it.

You need to stop generalizing christians. Anyone can understand the bible. Some people understand it better than others. Even for christians, it can be hard to read. I need to pray before I read because there are still some areas I really have no clue about. I won't even touch Revelation, but if I wanted to I would certainly pray about it.

It is the message that people understand. God's word is more than a book about right and wrong. There are certain areas where a non-christian can understand better than most christians, but when it comes to salvation, there is only one way to understand it. A non-christian, unless led by the Holy Spirit, will not understand the plan of salvation.

Don't think of it as christian-non christian, think of it as being saved, or not saved. If you want understanding of the bible, ask God to help you, and guide you through it.

His first message to you will be that you need to be born again. That will help you immensely if you want to understand it better.

Take care.

They don't. If they did, they would not be Christians. The bible contains dozens of internal discrepancies, and hundreds of errors against known fact, and once you figure that out, you can't be a Christian.

I must respond to responder somepaliguy27. He claims:
- that the Qu'ran is the word of God. Since it has errors, that is not possible;
- that the Bible has changed since the Qu'ran was written. That is not correct. Various new translations have been made since 620 C.E., but the underlying materials are the same as they were then.

well, I feel I have to modify your statement a bit... howmuch ever if one reads the bible if does not truly understand what it means its not doing him any good and as for why christians only understand the bible.. I have to say that whoever reads the bible and understands its essence becomes a christian.. so its a matter of true interpretation and so whoever interprets truly become christians in the true sense. And of course who can deny that unless the holy spirit moves a person he/she cannot make head or tail of what the bible really means. So any time we read the bible we have to pray to God to make us understand what he wants us to truly understand than to try to interpret it our own way..

I have to disagree most unbelievers were once strong believers that no longer wish to believe. I am sure for many reasons. I have seen some hardcore Atheist who could go toe to toe with any believer and in fact could excel past most believiers. It isn't so much that they can not understand but they can't accept it. Some just Don't want to follow the laws because sinning is more fun. Some just think it is far fetched. But you know it really does not matter. The believers that fight with them are hurting no one but themselves. You see they think God wants them to help those that do not believe but there is one thing wrong with this and that is they use to believe but believe no longer. believers need to turn the other cheek and move on where they can help not sit in a puddle of unchangable waters. The time spent fighting with an Atheist is less time spent really doing the work of the Lord.

Actually Christians do not understand the bible as they are the white devil that adapted the laws to exploit the black israelites and whomever would follow, as clearly stated in the Bible. The only whites in the area at the time were Romans, which did not become christian till around 400 ce. The bible goes into great detail as to who is the correct people of god, and they fled into africa.

I believe the Maker of the universe gave us humans a piece of Himself which helps us to disern between right and wrong. You are a prince or princesses, You are worth something. Treat yourself as if you are worth something.

You are above going around giving yourself away (haveing sex) to try to fullfill the love you never had as a child. You are above stuffing yourself to comfort yourself. You are above anything that could potentionally hold you down. You are above stealing, lieing, cheating and hurting others. In other words, You're not dumb, You know what is right and what is wrong.
I think if you are a negitive person you are not helping the world for the good so you are "sinning" I think if you are a good person, that you will attract good people as well as bad people (since right and wrong have always attracted each other especially in people) this is why divorce is so high.

So in short if you are in tuned with yourself you will know what to do in any situation. And if you have knowledge about the Bible, that will help you to know other parts as well. If you know how to build a house properly...then you know how to do the pumbing ;)

No, its not a gift. The bible is so confusing bcs 1) it's a book of man, not a book of god (unlike the Quran), and 2)the christians have changed it so much from its original version and keep on changing it.

Originally the bible was very much related to the Quran, but now its very different
