After having my baby girl, I am waiting for my milk to dry up... and trying to avoid pumping to speed things up, however...my breasts are constantly sore and uncomfortable. Does anyone know how I can get any relief without drawing out the process??

Visit your doctor they should offer a pil that will help dry up the milk. They give these to women who do not want to breast feed!.

It just goes its course. If you were to use a pump it would relieve the discomfort but you would continue to produce milk...so that would not work. Just wait it out, it only goes on for a couple of days. What ever you do resist ALL temptation to run around with your bra off! When the swelling goes down you will be feeling the regret in the form of sagging boobs. :(

Find an older women you know who takes Premarin and take a tablet. The hormones speed things up. I did this with my 1st daughter and my milk all came out like a river one day, then it was over. Doctor's used too prescribe it for women after childbirth, but have quit. With my 2nd daughter I breastfed, which is great!

Sounds weird but my MD told me to wrap my breasts in cooked cabbage leaves. There's something in it that helps with the pain and to dry up.

The first answer may SOUND odd, but I've heard that home remedy also. Actually I think it may have been a collard green leaf. Dont they have a pill to dry the milk at your docs office

Put cabbage leaves on your breast (their shape fits nicely) and also try to wear a sports bra, or wrap a large ace bandage around your breasts moderatly tight to compress them. Also, take tylenol or ibuprophin every 4-6 hours....good luck

Ice packs on the breasts and take benedryl and a decongestant--that is what they used to give to women in a shot to dry them up quicker and drink less water while you are trying to dry up--it all works together.
